\"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (7/17) (5-5 NL)

The first show of the L@TB week is 5-5 NL with the standard $300 min, $500 max buyin. The show should be interesting enough with the weekend doings of Bart and Tuch as Bart was in the 3k Omaha 8 tournament, and both Bart/Tuch attempted to win their ME event seats. Also, there was a post from Barry Woods after the Friday show about how he busted Corp. Mike. Makes for interesting reading before tonight's show, that as always, can be seen at www.liveatthebike.com

Kev

Any info on the alleged "new video blog" that they Dynamic Duo said would be on the website? Unless there is a glitch like the live streams, I keep getting a reply of Bart's stupendous diamond flush play against the flopped set of queens

Be interesting to hear Bart's take on the WSOP event. I assume he did not change his name to Thor Hanson lol

There is an Applebee's and Jamba Juice across the street from the bike now. The Neighborhood is looking a lot better there in Bell.

Hellmuth is out of the Omaha Hi-Lo event in 6th.

Pauperboy 07-17-2006 10:43 PM

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (7/17) (5-5 NL)

Phil Hellmuth Eliminated 6th ($48,576)
Hand #45 - Brent Carter raises to $16,000 from middle position and Phil Hellmuth moves all in for his last $16,000. Scott Clements makes the call from the big blind. The two players check down a board of 108838. Carter shows AK63 for trip eights with an A-K kicker. Clements folds and Hellmuth shows AQ65 for trip eights with an A-Q kicker. Brent Carter wins the pot and Phil Hellmuth has been eliminated from the tournament

Remember the 'saltiness' between Hellmuth and carter last year/2yrs ago that made the airwaves.

Hellmuth finished 5th today in the 3k Omaha 8, and he has made 3 other WSOP Omaha 8 final tables.

It is very disappointing that you are now charging to view your program. I have been watching it for the last year and a half at least 2 or 3 times a week.I have also recommended it to many poker players who also now watch. I feel it was a big mistake to start charging for it. If you wanted to generate revenue you should have done it through advertising NOT SUBSCRIPTION FEES!! It will be difficult to get new viewers now and you will probably lose many of the old ones. Also given the amount of technical problems you have I don't see how you could have launched it so prematurely.Tonight I couldn't even get a picture for my free half hour. I hope you re think this and change it back soon.

You need thousand of hits on a website to generate the revenue necessary to fund this project. That wouldn't work.

No, we should have popups every 3 minutes! And spam e-mails! They had the show for free for a while, ergo they owe us free entertainment forever!

The boys were talking about "The Circuit" awhile ago. There is a interview with Chip Reese that is real good. And a funny story involving Reese busting Hellmuth at a tourney.

I believe he has now made 34 final tables. One of his "Top 10 Finishes" was 9th in a 7-stud event, and the final table for those is 8 (I believe).

Jeff Madsen, the 21 year old that just won the bracelet in the 2K NLHE and cashed in another NLHE, lives across the street from my in-laws! [censored], I'm getting lessons!

Youngest bracelet winner yet. Damn that's great for a guy who really never played online. Congrats, Jeff!

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (7/17) (5-5 NL)

what's wrong with a company charging for a quality show?....who is expected to eat this cost?....it's expensive from a production point of view....

from the beginning they have always stated that they would be charging and we have been fortunate from a selfish point of view for not having to pay for this over 1 year.....

$15 bucks a month is NOTHING for what we are getting:
that's 1 quarter pounder with cheese value meal at mickey d's once a week for one week....that's 1 chai latte for 5 days at starbucks.....that's 3 pizza's at pizza hut only 3 days out of the month....and lastly, that's less than 5 gallons of regular gasonline....

and yes, i am a monthly subscriber and have been for over 1 year

I'm in the same boat you are in. As a viewer who has no need for the archives I don't think it is worth the price. Hopefully they will come out with some tier pricing for people who want just the live shows.

chicken the link still works in WMP 2 now. Also for some reason it works in my browser in IE now but not in firefox, but the archives work in both. Either way i just watch in WMP 2 as its easier that way.

Bart/Dave -

Watched Friday nights show - Bart check out Bellagio for 75/150 Omaha8 as well at Rio, I watched games at both places and they were juicy at each (FYI: I play up to 30/60 Omaha8) I watched it on July 1 & 2

Also I am not sure if you have seen the newest card player featuring the circuit, the show where you guys were on was listed as one of the top shows to listen to (i think there were maybe 10 on the list) so congrats

You're right about the stud events, he also has a 2nd in a headsup tournament, which I assume would be the only final table.

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (7/17) (5-5 NL)

Yes, the live show will still work in WMP 2 because it uses a keycode instead of DRM encoding like the archived shows do (I was initially under the impresion that it would be DRM). I'm watching it in a Firefox browser, so you might just be missing a plugin or something.

Well unfortunatly I personally am not going to spend 15 dollars a month on Poker show. As much as I enjoy the show I have other priorities higher than that. I would think being in California they would be able to get nan ad agency and get advertisors or sponsors with poker at the height of it's popularity. I don't feel they are going to get many new subscribers and thier customer base will remain local players who want to see themselves on TV, and also learn from their mistakes and how their oppenents play.If it remains a pay service I am setting the over/under of how much longer it will be on the air at 4/1/07. I am hope I am wrong and that they rethink this and change it back when they see the dramatic dropoff in viewing.

They are not a network - dropoff in freeloader viewing actually saves them money because that's less bandwidth eaten up.

500 viewers @ $0 per viewer = $0

10 viewers @ $15 per viewer = $150
