You lose the follow up bet too.

Single tableing the 100/200 for 1BB/100 would suit most people just fine. Or playing high stakes short handed. In fact, even I could probably make more single-tableing 10/20 6-max than I could in my current job.... not neccessarily the best way to approach things however!

If you could 6-8 table a 5-10 game for 1bb/100, but you cant beat the 100/200 games, then multitabling lower limits may just work out for the best. However, playing that many tables wont make you too much of a better player so that is why I believe it depends on the skill of the player in order to answer this question.

I think you could make a living playing only one table online if it was big enough, but I think you could do better playing live if you only want to play one table.

No one that can 1 table and make enough per hour to do it for a living (Anything over $30 would be ok I guess) would just play one table.

You could play a single heads up match at a time and make a small living right? Let's say that you win 2/3 matches at the $55 limit and you can play 3 an hour on average. Then you make 35$ per hour. Not bad.

Re: if you want to make a living playing online poker...

Us mere mortals must play multiple tables, i.e. those of us who can't beat 10-20, 15-30 etc. If you're playing 3-6 or 5-10 then you're going to need to supplement limit by volume. If you're a very good player there are plenty of limits available that would allow a person to play a single table and have an earn that would allow them to play for a living.

Re: if you want to make a living playing online poker...

Bad poll. Depends totally on stakes. You can't make a living playing 1 table of 2-4(well not what I consider a living), but you can surely make a decent living playing 1 table of 15-30 and above. Stakes are basically equated with skill so this would be totally subjective based upon stakes first and the required skill by-product.

Yeah, I believe Eugeneel and Dreamclown (HU specialists) strictly single table. Of course they're playing 200/400 and up...

If poll is asking whether or not there are people making a living single-tabling, then the answer is yes.

Re: if you want to make a living playing online poker...

Once upon a time...in the days before internet-poker...there were full-time live-poker pros who proved that one can obviously make a living playing only 1 table at a time.

And even then it was in an area before automatic-shufflers. So they were getting even fewer hands than a player gets on just one online-table.

The obvious answer is that of course it is possible to make a living playing only 1 table at a time.

However, if you are only playing 10/20 then you best be prepared to not make a huge amount of cash.
A 3/6 player at 4-6 tables would likely be able to make more than a 10/20 single-tabler in some situations (although the single-tabler may have the energy to grind out more hours per week I suspect).

If you're going to continue betting on things like this, you need to learn the significance of words like "must" and "all."

it is not only a matter of stakes, but where you are living, too.

the answer is no.

Re: if you want to make a living playing online poker...

In some ways, playing one table is harder then playing 3 or 4. The only people I think are crazy are the 8-tablers.

I can do 4, but at higher stakes I'm more comfortable with 3. It varies alot on the game I'm playin, for instance SnGs are easy to multi table since it is a lot of preflop all ins.

Ugh, I think playing a good heads-up game wears me out much more than 4-tabling 6-max. The metagames and psych factor are very draining IMO.

Me too. I hadn't even bothered voting...but I gave my nay right now because I wanted to see what you were talking about.

Weird.

There's absolutely NO WAY that it is mandatory to play more than 1 table in order to play full-time online-poker professionally for income.

I'm not sure how often Neverwin and guys like that multi-table...but I'm SURE some of those high-stakes heads-up online specialists don't do too much multi-tabling.

And they are almost CERTAINLY making a better living than my 6-tabling ass.

Stupid poll. Stupid results.

for the future, someone should save this thread for the next time we have a "what percentage of 2p2ers are winning players" We can pull this out as evidence that the lions share of 2p2 is chock full of rambling morons.

Pretty sure its obvious that it is BETTER to multitable but one CAN make a living off one table if one wanted to

Re: if you want to make a living playing online poker...

I think NL2k is the smallest you can single table to make a decent living off of *I think* (Might be NL5k). But why would anyone do this to themselves?

Re: if you want to make a living playing online poker...

As the games get tougher and the poker economy continues to tighten, the 8 tablers will be the most effected.

Re: if you want to make a living playing online poker...

the only reason not to multitble is playing heads up IMO, even then most people can play 2-3 tables+
