AK unimproved firing away
I thought I played this hand great at the time but now i'm not so sure. Both opponents in this hand are loose and dumb. BB is 53/32 and cold caller is 50/18 over about 100 hands. I didn't have that info at the time of the hand but I knew they were loose.

its close, but i dont think its really that bad of a spot to do this with.
whats your plan if someone c/r you on the river? |
Re: AK unimproved firing away
Hate it, tey aren't folding a 6. Just check and hope for a split.

Re: AK unimproved firing away
I certainly didn't expect anybody fold a six. I did have in mind someone throwing away AK or calling with a worse hand.

Re: AK unimproved firing away
Preflop: Fine
Flop: Standard Turn: I'd keep firing too. Even though there are a lot of potential draws out there it seems unlikely that the board has paired anyone. You may be up against a pocket pair, though. River: I'm not so sure I like this bet. Even though it makes a straight, I don't think the deuce is much of a scare card... nobody's going to put you on a 4 here. I think I'd rather check, and fold if there is a bet and a call, and call if there is a bet and a fold. |
Re: AK unimproved firing away
Check the river and re-evaluate. The rest of the hand was played perfectly.

Re: AK unimproved firing away
/begin weak tight
I'd c/f the turn, i'm up against two people who will call with any part of the board I could be dead already I have no idea if my outs are clean, heads up, i keep going, 3-way, i'm down on the turn /end weak tight |

heads up, i keep going, 3-way, i'm down on the turn /end weak tight [/ QUOTE ] This is funny, cuz HU I am much more likely to play the showdown game and check the turn and call the river. 3 way, I am more likely to bet the turn and protect my hand/get more money in the pot when I am best) |
Re: AK unimproved firing away
flop/turn=good
easy river check. |
Re: AK unimproved firing away
I check the river. They both arent calling with weaker hands, and I think you save a bet here more often by checking and getting the showdown for free the times you lose and button is to pussy to bet his weak pair, or he checks and bb is holding some goofy pair hand. Plus it gives you the option of folding it goes bet/call or bet/raise and it saves you from some deciding what to do vs some stupid bluff raise because the board went 4 straight

Check the river!

Re: AK unimproved firing away
betting the river is a poor play: You are likely beat and ANY pair will call. If you check, you can see if button bets and if SB calls. Then you can fold. By checking you are also giving the button a chance to bluff and if SB folds, then you can call.
I've seen this hand happen a thousand times and i'm wondering if the best play isn't to just check the flop and evaluate. Especially with loose players, they'll call you with anything. More times than not you get raised on flop bets. Taking the weak-tight approach is something to consider. |
