I'm pushing six weeks and feel this is probably the under. Let em rip and reasons are fine too. Like maybe you were older or had kids or grew up together. Just average relationship time these days.

as long at it takes so that I'm positive that I'm not mistaking passionate infatuation for real love. in the two instances in my life where I actually did love the girl, it was easily a year or more before I'd feel comfortable saying it and meaning it. and I certainly wouldnt say it if I didnt mean it...that's just the way I am.

usually, the girl would say it far earlier - and I'm not sure that they weren't passionately infatuated and making the common mistake of not knowing where the real line differentiating the two feelings was.

There was a thread about this a while ago and my answer was: until you're sure it's not going to be a surprise to her. "I love you" and "Will you marry me?" are two things a guy should only say/ask when he's positive the response will be in the affirmative.

The fact that you are laying out a timeline for telling people you love them means you either don't love them or you've loved so many people in your life it almost makes it meaningless.

I'm a geek just like the 1000's of other geeks on this forum - I like Star Wars, Slayer, poker, golf, NFL football, South Park, reading and a whole bunch of other geeky [censored]. someday, when you're older and have developed self confidence and a personality, and really dont give a flying [censored] about winning a popularity contest, girls will like you also.

Well, if you figure you'd deal with in than I guess that will work for you, but for most people who don't have super smooth problem handling skills I'd say telling a girl you love them when they don't love you is asking for a lot of trouble.

We have a great relationship. We started dating in college, now I see her maybe 5 times a week. Don't live together, I think I'll say it eventually, but I've never said it before (never to previous GFs either) so maybe its just reluctance on my behalf.
