Cool Stuff To Buy Because You Make So Much Money Playing Online Poker
 

This is kind of a response to the "Why should anyone play online poker" thread that's popped up.

Let's face it, poker kinda sucks. At least if you're playing it as a sole source of income. At least to me it sucks. It's a grind, it can be really stressful, the best times to play are when your friends just got off work, short term fluctuations, etc.

The reason I play? Money. No other real reason. Sometimes poker can be fun, (moving up, playing really deep, running hot), but it doesn't last. It's all about the dollars, and I'm ok with it.

So being the capitalist that I am, motivation to play poker comes from motivation to make money which comes from motivation to buy stuff.

Here's some stuff I want and am going to buy -

-Razr cell phone
-Flat screen 30'' TV, the kind you can put up on the wall
-A '93-'97 BMW, I kinda like the 321i
-I'm studying in Sweden next year, so i'm looking at all these side trips to Italy and the eastern Europe area.

Then just a bunch of stupid stuff like going out for nice dinners, golfing, and getting massages.

For me at least, thinking about these things help me log the hands (as horrible as it sounds).

So go ahead, be materialistic. I need more cool [censored] to buy.

well, its cool your ok with it, but the more enjoyable poker is to you, the better your winrate and the quicker your skill progresses. I'm kind of in the same boat as you, not really enjoying the game, constantly checking my bankroll, and I am clearly not playing my best. I'm thinking about taking a long break and see if it's enjoyable after > 1 month away.

A faster PC and more monitors so I can play more poker. Maybe some sweet poker t-shirts or hats or something. Beyond that, I dunno, maybe my own casino.

Ravens PSLs. Lower deck between the 40s. $18kish, plus another $1k/year in tickets. But I live about three hours away from the stadium, so I'd only go to maybe two games a year, so the ticket purchase each year is more of an investment (as are the PSLs). Price I can fetch for tickets winds up netting me between $1k and $3k profit each year if I go to two games, and doesn't include playoff purchases or sales.

After Ravens PSLs, it'll be Dodge Viper time. That's several years/decades away though.

1) Primary residence, paid for in full.

2) Secondary residence, paid for in full.

3) An investment portfolio that can make as much money per month as the average 1/2 6m NL multitabler.

4) No debt what so ever.

If he lives in a dorm room, or has a small area where he is using it 50 is way too big. Even though I usually I agree bigger is better, it is not necessarily the case with TV's. There are a lot of other factors.

You've probably heard this before, but you shouldnt pay off the houses as soon as humanly possible. Its almost always better to pay them off gradually and just invest the money because of lowish interest rates and tax breaks.

As for me, Im trying to build a mountain of cocaine like at the end of Scarface, then me and a bunch of hookers are going to jump in it like a pile of leaves.

I'm in the process of "maybe" buying an already established UPS store. I own real estate, buying more as we speak (CLOSE ON WED!!!)

Umm, got a '05 mustang, 52" t.v. 3 20" dell monitors, 2 ps2's, xbox, tons of games, 4 other t.v.'s ranging from 15" to 32", labtop, cell phone that has poker on it through pokerroom, 50% of my own website. Lots of crap I don't need [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I don't make a ton with poker, but what I do, I just save it and don't buy anything out of the ordinary.

i'm kinda diggin' my ing savings account right about now...

i was close to buying a pair of jet-skis and a trailor for them in june...then i decided i'd rather be able to open my ing account and look at that pretty number a little more.

plus, i really don't have a truck with with to tow those puppies, so yeah...next year.

I just bought a grill that has like 8 fake diamonds on each of the 6 front teeth. I rocked it at a 4th of July party and people were loving it.

and i don't think i want hookers per se but i will be spending more time around the local university (especially if i go back to school or move to Austin).

and maybe a new laptop, just because i can. i already went on a ridiculous clothes shopping spree the last couple weeks.
