Alright,

It's a well known fact that asking a girl if she wants to watch a movie with you is pretty much guaranteed ass in college.

What are some of the best movies to watch that are similar to Garden State, the ultimate in this genre of films.

Obviously, "romantic comedies" are good.

Here are some of my suggestions but I want more.

Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind is pretty good if the girl is somewhat intelligent. If she's a moron you can just fall back on any Ferrell/Vaugn/Stiller/Wilson comedy.

Casablanca is pretty much a lock, UNLESS the girl is one of those who have a thing against older, B&W movies. This group of people is surprisingly large, I'm sad to say.

Great movie obv, but seriously not a lock at all imo. Black and white is a negative. Humphrey Bogart is not someone any girl in 2006 wants to look at. You'll be staring at Bergman the whole movie, and it's just Nazi immigration whatnot during the early part.

I think 99.9% of movies will work, you have already got her agreeing to enjoy your company. I would show here my collection and let her choose.

Yeah, anything too weepy isn't going to work. Every girlfriend I know has cried buckets at that movie. She might even refuse to watch it if she knows it's history. Go for something nostalgic or romancy, but not for the red eyes from crying.
