OOT: possible porn policy change
 

I'm thinking about getting rid of these starting now.

I think asking questions like which porn star would you [censored] or whatever are fine but other than that I don't think it would hurt to dial the porn content down a notch.

Thoughts from those of you who actually read OOT, either in general or specifics.

I'm somewhat torn and unsure on how far I want to go. Its a fine line as I think the would you [censored] this hooker probably should have been axed but again I think asking which porn star you want to [censored] is a fair topic for the forum.

It was my impression these were more "lol" worthy threads anyway. However, not really sure Mason wants them their either.

Thinking about it it seems like the Shania Hyatt thread would be a good place to start drawing a line as far as what's good and what's too much.

The Shania Hyatt thread being ok but things being more hardcore or vulgar than that not being.

Are you talking about the giant thread that i've wanted to delete in NVG forever but won't 'cause I don't want pissed off posters showing up in my apartment? (note- I have no beef with the thread, just that it doesn't belong in NVG, but I'm not moving an institution)

I don't think random NSFW links and random porn links add anything to the forum. If people want free porn, there are plenty of places and its not necessary in OOT. It also doesn't add anything of discussion value. It also would be nice if the titles of threads weren't so profane and out there, (would you f this hooker being a great example) because right now as it stands, even looking at the thread list of OOT is NSFW.

then it should stay...but doubt OOT will be much worse off if the one liner posts or polls go away.

Top 10 lists though should stay....if its good enough for late night TV its good enough for OOT.

I kind of agree. It was fun at one time, but it's gotten out of hand and there's never anything new anyway.

This seems a bit much to me. How far do you want to go with this? This is a gambling forum after all. You shouldn't expect to sit at work looking at a gambling site and have it look like the Disney site or something. Just my $.02.

I am talking about mostly about links to vids and pics but I don't want to limit it to just that as I think there could be some discussion that would be vulgar enough it would have to qualify, although I would be really hesitant on this.

I'm still working this out myself so its hard to get to specifics. I suspect it will be something thats worked out over time

As far as thread titles one thing that will stop immediately is the circumventing the filter in thread titles that I've seen become more common. this will pretty much start resulting in a [censored]-ing

I should caveat that with, when I say "work," what I really mean is "public." As it stands right now, I wouldn't want to be browsing OOT in public, because of the vulgarity of some of the thread titles.

It seems that if OOT adopts a stricter standard for the wildest forum here, that standard should be the least allowable for other forums.

what about really vulgar words alone as well? Wouldn't that mean the long running JoeyB thread should finally be locked and allowed to fade into the archives? I know a certain poster who made it is inordinately proud of it as it represented his best work in these forums and his contributions have been downhill from there, but still it seems any new standards have to apply to it also.

There are much better places to find porn on the internet, and if it will make Mason and Mat and whomever feel better about what's going on it OOT, by all means remove it. Rather than simply deleting threads/banning people, there's got to be a more entertaining way to punish those who insist on NSFW stuff in OOT.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there doesn't seem to that many porn threads anyway. Scrolling down the first couple pages, there's only 3 or 4 NSFW threads total, and they aren't even that bad.

I'd just like to agree with the notion that if you want naked chicks/porn it's like super easy to find online and doesn't need to be part of this forum.

The only reason I raised the LOL issue was that it was my impression when lol was created that threads like astros would go there.

I agree that porn is readily available and OOT doesn't need to be the grimy back room of the forums. More than it already is, I mean.

OTOH, that Japanese porn actresses thread was [censored] spectacular.
