SSNL [cheese] thread: JULY (nc)

Have at it.

What is the cheese thread? Here is where you post how awesome you are, or how much you suck. Or how some 2p2'er is a huge fish or is tapping the glass, or any other inane crap like graphs and stats that will clutter this thread, but not the forum as a whole. Clutter up this thread, not the rest of the forum. You can also post hands where you pwn or get pwned, or where something weird happens, etc. etc. etc. blah blah blah.

Why cheese? Each of the NL forums have a monthly thread similar to this one. A few of us used to discuss cheese in some of the crappy threads started in SSNL to let the OP know that he started a crappy thread and we'd rather discuss something stupid than the topic they started. And so ours is called the cheese thread.

I'll start off the thread by saying that I hope Portugal wins tomorrow (and if I'm rooting for them, that means they'll probably lose). And, I need breakfast recommendations for my trip to IHOP in the morning. I've never been.

That is all. G'nite.

Denny's >>>>> IHOP

[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] the "Grand Slam"

P.S. I have NO Clue if Denny's is like only located in NY or the Northeasst, so I apologize if people have no clue what I am talking about.

P.P.S - If anyone from down south wants to chime in with where Waffle House ranks, please do. I've never been, but it always seemed like it would be awesome.

Re: SSNL [cheese] thread: JULY (nc)

In Fargo, we've had Denny's for a long time. It's OK. Perkins is better, and I think they are mostly midwestern. IHOP is somewhat new so want to try it out. I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Waffle House. Their waffles are awesome. They are mostly in the South though, so I only eat there when traveling. I think there's a few in Kansas City; but, that's about it for WH's in the Midwest.

Nice. Why does this never work for me? Did you put him on two pair?

ChipStorm 07-05-2006 08:39 AM

Re: SSNL [cheese] thread: JULY (nc)

Yeah, it certainly doesn't always work for me either....

My thinking was that villain was either drawing or on a completely mediocre hand, based on his line. Which means that whatever I bet, chances of just folding him out and getting nothing extra are pretty good.

So as a river for value betting, this one's probably only worth about $2, maybe $3. You bet half pot, get called some of the time but not all. But if I push, and he only calls that push a measly 5% of the time, I've done just as well.

So what the hell, in it goes. There's always that chance, however small, that villain will put you on a stone bluff, or likewise have some other stupid thought, whatever it is, that results in him calling. I was just hoping that chance was better than 5%.

An orbit or two later, I flopped a nut straight that held to the river, and with the same opponent I pushed again. He didn't call that time....

Preflop: Hero is BB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $1.
UTG calls $2, 8 folds, Hero checks.

Flop: ($5) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $4, UTG raises to $8, Hero calls $4.

Turn: ($21) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $10, Hero calls $10.

River: ($41) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero calls $180 (All-In), UTG calls $71.28 (All-In).

Final Pot: $292.28

Results in white below:
Hero has 7s Ks (flush, ace high).
UTG has Kd Ac (straight, five high).
Outcome: Hero wins $292.28.

The funny thing is, in both of these hands, the villains insta-called. I'm sure playing the board is a great reason to call huge overbets.

Just so everyone knows: I changed dbitel's title to knob. I mentioned to him in pm that he didn't have to keep it if he didn't want to. He said meh, it was OK. But, that he'd ask in the cheese thread if anyone could think of a better one.

Btw, that goes for everyone at 2p2. If a mod gives you a title that you don't want, you don't have to keep it. PM a mod and it'll get changed to something agreeable or you can go back to the default titling.

I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Waffle House. Their waffles are awesome. They are mostly in the South though, so I only eat there when traveling. I think there's a few in Kansas City; but, that's about it for WH's in the Midwest.

How about "knob"? The capital letter makes it seem too formal, and db's such a freewheelin' kinda guy....

About a month ago, the mods started some kind of turf war between themselves with my title as the battlegrounds. For a while, it was changing every couple days. Nowadays, I log in just to see what my new title will be....

Oh, and for the record: I have no problem with my revolving door of titles. It keeps things lively.

On a totally unrelated note:

MY NEW AIR CONDITIONER IS INSTALLED! WOO!

For those of you who didn't know, my AC went out on Friday evening. Since the old unit is older than AJ, it wasn't worth repairing; I had to replace it. Of course, trying to get a new air conditioner installed in your house on the first day of a four-day weekend is...tricky. So, my house sat at a toasty 94 degrees until this afternoon. Now, $5,146 later, my house is cool and habitable.

I love the AC. I'm not a big fan of spending a $200NL bankroll on my new unit, but I looooove the AC.
