I am -3.5 both eyes. Don't know how bad that is but I can only see the big E without my glasses.

even worse is that I have astigmatism in both eyes. The left is so bad that I have a permanent blur. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

-4.25 and -4.00... hasn't changed much in a while. Have astigmatism to go with it. Looking into LASIK to be rid of these damned glasses/contacts!

my eyes are -6.0 and -6.5. optometrist told me he could only measure my 20/20 type vision up to 20/200 and i was off the chart for that.

-3.25 left eye, -2.75 right eye. I've been told that my vision is 20/200 uncorrected, but then shouldn't it be more negative diopters? Is -3.25, -2.75 bad? I'm 21 if it matters. i can't read from more than a foot away without my glasses/contacts

mine are -3.75. I asked the dr what that translated to the last time. I think she said 20/300, but I can't remember for sure.

-7 in my right eye, -7.25 in my left. I also have significant astigmatism and some need for prism correction. I am strongly considering LASIK, but don't know if I'm a good candidate.

20/15 three years ago when I had my last eye exam.

It's funny because both my parents and both my brothers wear glasses or contacts.

It was 20/20 4 years ago, but I just noticed a couple weeks ago it is less sharp in one eye. Between that and the bald spot, I'm not too happy about this aging thing.

20/15 - LASIK ftw.

Before I was -6.25 and -5.75 with contacts. I didn't know what that translated to in 20/??? format, but based on the other posts I've read in this thread, I would have been off the charts also.

My vision was so bad that if I did not know in advance that the top letter was an "E" I would not be able to identify it.

Which sucks, because I believe you get an additional tax deduction for being legally "blind," which I missed out on for like 4 years.

Never occured to me that I could be "blind" while still able to see.

Diopters don't easily convert to Snellen chart values. Snellen charts don't really offer much value informationwise, as they are strictly comparison based on an arbitrary design. The diopter measurements give you an actual scientific (non-SI) data set.
