Portugal - France

After the other semifinal this match will have a lot to live up to. I see (and hope for) Portugal going through 2-1.

Força Portugal!

yes, I'm biased. Also I want a 2-0 game, I don't predict it to be 2-0

I was at the Portugal-England match in Gelsenkirchen and was not happy with the result, as I were rooting for England and Sweden this WC. Now I'm hoping for a french win against Portugal and another Zidane show (I heard he was great against Brazil).

So while I'm waiting for the match, I think this Zidane video is great for those of us who would love to see him retire with style.

BTW, there are so many great videos at youtube and google.

Re: Portugal - France

No goalie has looked more impressive than the Portugese goalie in the penalty kicks in which they beat England. He almost stopped all 5. The one that got in went in off his hand. I dont know if that shows how badly England sucks at penalty kicks or how badass the Portugese goalie is, but either way if they go to penalty kicks Portugal should win.

yet another game that will produce mixed feelings at the end.

I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] henry and zidane and really want zidane to go out on top, but i also [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Deco, but I think i have to go with france by a hair just because this is IT for zidane

To echo what others are saying. This is a match with two teams full of players I like, so either outcome I'll be happy with. Whoever wins today really needs to beat Italy though.

I think I give a slight edge in my cheering to Portugal as I'd like to see Figo get to play in a World Cup Championship match.

Like you guys I'm really torn on this one. I strongly dislike Zidane*, am still pissed that France knocked out Spain in Euro2000 much less this WC finals (honestly this doesn't sting as badly), don't like the French style of play this WC, and in general just prefer Portugal.

* Zidane is IMO the best player of the last 10 years AINC. Zidane, however, in matches against Sevilla alone the last few years has done something to warrant getting sent off 3 times (stomping, kicking and elbowing the last of which amazingly got him sent off). He does this [censored] in other matches as well but has somehow developed a clean reputation so he rarely gets even a yellow for his actions and every time the announcers mention that it's rare to see such things from Zidane even though that's not the case. I would be absolutely thrilled to see Zidane go the last three years of his career with absolutely no titles for club or country.

Seriously. What's with this? They clearly have the talent to play on the ground through the midfield, and yet they spend 90 minutes kicking the ball downfield and hoping Henry isn't offside.

Their midfield is old and out of shape and cant be constantly attacking. Just my guess.

Niether of this teams are good enough to score on Italy or stop them in the midfield. That said, I'd like to see Portugal win because I absoluetly hate watching the French play kickball for 90 minutes and Henry look surprised at every offsides call.
