This movie is awesome. Shakespeare + Heath Ledger + Julia Stiles as a feminazi. David Krumholtz rules as always and Laris Oleynik is yummy.

This movie really is the opposite of awesome. Everyone sucks except Alex Mack who is hot as [censored]. Gabrielle Union needs to stop playing the token black girl in every [censored] movie.

I like this movie because it's a Seattle movie without rain.

Also because Julie Styles and I are married.

Larry Miller is HORRIBLE in it, however. He used to be good. His whole schitck is way too slapstick for the tone of the rest of the movie.

I had watched this movie many times for several years before anyone even mentioned this connection. I don't know why suddenly I've heard it many times from many different sources. I think its cause Julie Stiles is branching out from the bitchy roles and people are looking back on this movie to show her range or something.

Anyways this movie ruled, remember seeing it in the theater, its developed sort of a cult following and will probably be remember as one of the classic 90s teen movies.

I love these high school movies, and give them great lattitude no matter how mediocre -- but I felt pain watching this one and could not finish it. There's a good chance that people unaware of the Shrew connection suck -- I'm not saying they do, but...

To be clear, it's not a great or very good movie. It's entertaining, I like seeing Seattle look pretty and I have a crush on the lead actress.

JoA, being the best in this genre is hardly saying much.

yeah. it's better than all the teen movies that came after it (American Pie and such) but not the ones before it (Breakfast Club, Fast Times, Sixteen Candles).

You could throw in stuff like Varsity Blues, Never Been Kissed, She's All That, etc.

Obviously those aren't as good as what you've mentioned.

MEAN GIRLS (I &lt;3 Lohan pre-trainwreck)

I wouldn't limit it to "of its time." -- but of its time, I think the lame and militantly unambitious _She All's That_ is more entertaining. And I think Styles is a cutie.

I think that AP has some of the best executed gross out stuff we'd seen in a while. The fact that it worked on that level and was still fantastic is a great sign.
