Open letter to Censored

What the hell is going on?

I leave for vacation and while I'm gone Censored takes the opportunity to "ban" me from OOT and then make an announcement about it. (It's not a formal ban since the mods can't ban people from one forum and not the rest; it's a request that I don't post in OOT).

OK, well I have an announcement for Censored and the mod crew. You all have your jobs as mods because you agreed to work for free.

News flash: other people were asked to be mods before you ever had the opportunity and we turned the job down because it didn't pay anything. It's a lot of work for no reward except power. And that doesn't appeal to me as much as it obviously appeals to you, you power-hungry [censored].

Take your [censored] ban and shove it up your ass.

Elaine,

i'm not gan of [censored] and dont agree with his tactics, but you should note that this was by popular demand, and perhaps think about the reasons why (you made some pretty terrible posts, particularly as Otis).

Wow, Elaine as a mod. Talk about a Twilight Zone moment.

This weekend just gets better and better.

Can a mod please let us see the discussions going on in the mod forum? This has got to be out of control in there. Better than any soap opera could ever be. You could likely charge for it.

I really hope this thread gets deleted and my memory of it erased so I can get back to reading approved content again - I'm starting to have some original thoughts, some of them against our divine leaders!

elaine,

the public has spoken. trolls should not be allowed in OOT. this isn't like the kennedys, you dont get special exemption for being a spouse of someone actually important.

also this should get reallly juicy. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

she was voted to be kicked out by 228 of 524 people who voted. She got 10% of the total votes, but this is b/c people could vote for up to 7 others. I would say this a fair indication that she was not very well liked.

I like how Elaine types out "Censored" instead of just typing something banned like [censored]

I think there are a lot of people I would ban before Elaine, the fact that Gunny Highway and prohornblower still post makes me quite ambivalent about this whole thing.

I wonder if the OOT of the large penis support forum, or the zoophilia forum has these kinds of issues. Or is this kind of stuff more endemic to poker players? Someone should do a study.

Suggestion to those who hate me: add me to YOUR ignore list.

Elaine,

serious, non judgemental question:

Why do you think you are seemingly so unpopular?

Re: Open letter to Censored

Elaine:

I have never said anything to you with better intentions than I do now.

Here's the thing. Have you noticed the bar graph that reflects the popular vote involved in [censored]'s latest "culling?" Have you seen the big, long bar? That's you. The idea for this was set forward by [censored]'s whim, but you specifically were nominated and then singled out by overwhelming popular vote. You're not very popular around here. And that is quite curious, considering that you, as the wife of one of the five-or-so most beloved people on this forum, are in a natural position to be extremely popular. Nonetheless you seem to two important failures of comprehension and judgment, that have caused you to squander your enormous natural advantage in this regard. These are:

1) Your enormously hostile attitude towards the rank-and-file 2+2er. You are very quick to start slinging insults, making very strong judgments on the character of others without much appreciable cause, and otherwise convey the attitude that you find the people you associate with here to a low, disgusting breed. This, as you might imagine, sparks a considerable amount of matching resentment.

I understand that OOT contains a lot of rather insensitive / unflattering content with respect to women. I understand that you are highly sensitive to such content. This strikes one as a ready-made recipe for discord that is perhaps unavoidable. But surely you must realize that playing the part of some high-minded, righteous crusader is going to cut very little ice here. Bluntly stated, why should anyone listen to you, particularly if your approach is going to rely on contempt and hostility from the very beginning?

2) Where we run into a real problem is when we combine the above attitude with a certain misapprehension of the facts. That is this, and it is important: You assume that being the wife of Ed Miller automatically makes you someone with credibility in the 2+2 community. This is manifestly untrue; his credibility does not extend to yours, and you must earn your own respect as a poster.

Let's say Ed was the strapping star quarterback of the Oakland Raiders, and you were his blushing bride. One unlucky autumn Sunday, Ed gets sacked about half a dozen times and generally spends most of the game with his face buried in the turf. May you then storm into the locker room and chew out Ed's offensive line? No; of course not. You would have no authority or credibility within Ed's professional life. The same is true here.

Do you even play poker? Do you know how to play poker? Not being much of a player is of course no bar to being a welcome, contributing member at 2+2. But as you make no strategy posts, and your non-strategy posts so often consist of berating the board for its Shameful Behavior and Treatment of Something or Somebody, and calling people "pussy-asses" for no apparent reason whatsoever, it would seem to me that you should be wondering not who [censored] thinks he is, but, rather, who you think you are. Why should you be welcome at this forum? Indeed, why do you associate at all with people for whom you seem to have so much contempt and anger?

I think you owe it to yourself to consider your answer to these questions carefully. How do you respond?

Edit for clarification: the first point is great, the second two are horrendous.
