Party auto close at stop loss amount

My problem with poker is a lack of self-discipline, if I could always adhere to a stop-loss amount of 30BBs, I would have much better results. Does there exist a script that interfaces with PokerTracker that would automatically shutdown Party when my losses exceeded some predefined amount?

I realize I am incredibly lame for needing such a thing, but I would be appreciative if such a thing existed. Thanks.

If you play on paradise you can set limits, I never tried it though.

Thanks, but I am specifically interested in Party.

I can figure out how to run a database query from Excel to display my session wins/losses. I feel like I should be able to make Excel close Party via a macro when my session losses exceed a certain amount. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Most likely it would close the table just when you're in the middle of a hand that would have won you 30 BBs.

My self-discipline has more to do with playing the right limits, but I think I would just close the limiting application and there goes my money again.

You should probably stop playing poker.

Don't be a prick.

FWIW, I figured it out, I was about to share it, but not really feeling like it now.

[/ QUOTE ]I don't think withholding your external-restraint script is going to break any hearts. I'm glad you figured it out, but if you need a program to close Party for you after losing a certain amount, you're probably just going to open Party again, right?

If you like, you can use this dare as motivation to help your gambling problem. Prove me wrong by not compulsively continuing to play. A better option is to carefully evaluate your gambling habits and motivation.

lol how is that? 30BB is nothing and if you want to stop playing but can't that's a problem, IMO.

I'm working on something right now that will show you this in a nice little display, along with other current trends of your session. That way you can see if you're deviating from your game plan. Sometime I feel like I start playing too loose after I've gone up a couple BB. Hopefully this will help.

Oh, but it wont auto close Party for you. You'll still need a bit of discipline for that

Ok I will bite since no one has.

Stop loss amounts are bogus. It's all one big session. Play goot poker.

[/ QUOTE ]This isn't totally true for everyone. Some people play worse poker if they've been losing; they tilt and make bad decisions, turning themselves into -EV players during the 24-hours in which they lost heavily. (Note: 30BB isn't heavily.)

If you're such a player, you probably SHOULD wait a day to play some more. Deciding to stop after losses would be reasonable. Note that I said "deciding", not "having your computer cut you off".

I would say most people go on some form of tilt when they're having a losing session. You're probably fooling yourself if you think you don't. However, if you lack the discipline to shut your poker client down at a predetermined point- well, again, that's another issue entirely.
