why did you have to be greedy and start both threads? and why do you have the date in the title, i'm pretty sure we all know

anyway, this will be like the portugal/holland in that i expect it to be a good game and that i'm rooting for both teams.

Didn't mean to be greedy. I was just looking at my board. Does it really matter why I date the post? I dunno . . . I date everything . . . lol.

I'm just excited man . . .

For this reason I hope Portugal get knocked out vs England....

France for the win !

Has potential to be a good game if the real France finally turn up and Spain show they can actually be consistant. I feel Spain will take it leading to what could be the game of the WC against Brazil.

Seriously though, I predict 2-0 for Spain but as it's Spain I wouldn't be surprised at all by Spain completely [censored] up and losing 1-0 or 0-0 on penalties.

Fernando Torres. Thierry Henry.

Oh yeah, this game's gonna be good. There will certainly be a lot of chances, even if they are not so many goals.

Re: Spain vs France - Tuesday, June 27th

I want 4 things to happen in this game

1.Henry/Trezeguet a goal apiece or 2 for Henry
2. >>>4 goals in the game
3. France to win
4. Henry to spit in the Spanish coach's face

btw, i love how reese (sp?) davis ALWAYS refers to wynalda as US team all time leading scorer, is this really saying much? i mean how many goals does it take to assume this position, 5, 6? the 3rd string left back for brazil would prolly hold this record in the US.

PITTM 06-27-2006 02:39 PM

Re: Spain vs France - Tuesday, June 27th

its rece davis i believe. and eric wynalda is a worthless moron. cant we get some european announcers for espn who arent that one guy i cant stand? until then its all univision for me.

Good, the referee's Italian. At least he'll know, from long experience, how to identify a dive.

I see Harkes got in his once-a-game anti-England dig a few minutes back. You don't think the guy's still a little upset about not being able to hack it in the Premier League, do you? The guy's entire English career was one goal in a losing effort in a League Cup final. Slight sour grapes there.

I know I sound like a broken record here but Raul playing over Reyes, Joaquin, and Luis Garcia is an amazingly poor managing decision.

are you [censored] kidding me

did that ball seriously just go all the way through the box with two strikers [edit: i realize one was pv] missing it.

See if the french have anything in the tank now, I suspect Spain may go on to win this easy now.

There wasn't a keeper in the world getting to that ball.

Unless Coupet is injured, there is no way he should be riding the pine while Barthez, the human time bomb, is out there reliving past glories. Domenech is maybe the one manager out there who makes Eriksson look good by comparison.

Really stupid mistake by Thuram, you'd expect someone with his experience and maturity to do better than that.

La Brujita 06-27-2006 03:31 PM

Re: Spain vs France - Tuesday, June 27th

thats a crystal clear penalty, not sure what the us announcers are talking about.

the annoying thing about soccer is a penalty like that, its crystal clear but it wasn't really a goal scoring opportunity.

i wish they could give free kicks in the box, but that aint the rules.

Why don't they give them the penalty kick at the spot of the foul in the box? That seems a little more fair than giving a PK for a foul near the edge of the box then moving the ball to point blank range...

to be fair, I'd be pretty pissed too that I spent a lot of time at Wednesday. Having to ply my trade in Sheffield wouldn't exactly motivate me

I really don't get the spanish obsession with Raul. He has never fully impressed me and for someone who has been supposed to be as good as him, he never really comes through when he's needed and I don't think that he is anyhwere near as dangerous as is advertised. And now at the age of 29 his career is in the decline(and has been for a year or two) when he should be starting to hit his peak. Maybe it has a bit to do with him playing in the 1st team at such a young age, but this should be his time in the sun and its quite the opposite

i don't think barthez played that pk badly or anyone else could have stopped it, i just didn't realize barthez was still starting for france until just now.

Cos thats the rule and the defenders know that, its not like its some shock to them, the french guy was an idiot the guy wasnt facing the goal, he should have stayed on his feet and not stood on the his leg right in fornt of the ref.
