OT: Most $$$ you have lost due to power/internet going out
 

Just curious to see. I am fortunate enough to not have any significant outages since I moved up to the 55s-109s. The most I have lost was back when I was 4 tabling 22s. Don't think I placed in any of the 4, so it was an $88 loss.

If the same were to happen now while 9 tabling, I would certainly at least go to a neighbor's house, unless of course, the power was out for the entire area or I was playing at my usual time (Early moring long before most people are up).

The most I have lost is 4 tabling the 22s as well. Whenever I move up to 109s or above I def plan on having an hour battery backup for the computer and my cell phone can connect to the computer as well so thats my backup. The thought of losing $800 or more to an internet outage makes me want to vomit.

Also 4 Tabling 22s, for the entire last september/august our internet connection sucked and I probably lost over 500$ in 22$sng value(at least 6-7 sets down the drain, maybe more). I live in student housing, so there's no alternative either...all is well now though.

Exchange phone #s with someone who is better at sngs than you are. Then you can call and have them finish up for you if your power goes out, or maybe if you're just playing like [censored].

lost 8 109s one day so had like $950 in EV that i lost. also that day i went to my car only to find someone had shot my window with a bb gun. not one of my best days

exchanging phone numbers should be a standard thing for most serious multitablers. It is the kind of thing that can really save you ass when your internet/power goes out on the bubble.

dude u cant exchange phone numbers because if they play on your sn on their computer, you cant ever sit at same table again. The only people you can do it with are career low limit guys IMO

I was wondering why I can't sit with some of my friends that don't even live near me. I guess it was the one or two times they played on my computer on my network.

This has happened to me many times. So many that I've entertained redundant High speed internet systems (Cable and DSL).

worste was $55 x 9 tables - all in level one. I came in third on one of those by sitting out ;-)

I've also lost it during the Sunday $215 when I had a better than average stack in hour 4 and never got it back.

Had $1726 at the tables, but managed to blind my way into money in two $109 so got 400 back. Have no idea how many chips I had at each table though.

nearly positive it's not true at stars. i've had a friend take over for me on several occasions when my internet went out, and i've used his computer and he's used mine in the past. we haven't been at the same level in a while, but several months ago we would wind up at the same table once in a while.

i looked into a dual channel router. its supposed to handled two sources (dsl/cable). wasnt able to get it to work so i just got another router, one for dsl and one for cable. i was able to switch between dsl and cable on the fly (maybe missing only one hand)

also, get one of those battery back ups with plenty of outlets for your necessary stuff: lcd(s), router(s), cpu, modem(s), ...

once i was playing 2/4 or 3/6 full ring. and i flopped quads. there was like 6 ppl in the hand preflop and the betting was capped. as it got to me (on the button) the betting was capped with 6 ppl in the hand. needless to say as i went to call and the software i was using died. i forget what it was but dont ever play there. ever.

at the time i was 8 tabling, and only a certain number of my tables went out too. luckily it was only the ones i was having action on..beeeeeeeesssssssssss

last year i dont think i lost any. i had dial up backup. but that company went belly up.

thx for this thread! it reminded me to look for a replacement.

About a month ago I'm 5/13 in a 90x$55 and top 20/200 or so in a WSOP ME freeroll, when my DSL goes out. I'm kicking myself for not having a phone backup (which I have now), but I realize my phone is out too, so no matter. I check with my new neighbor to see if there's any chance I can use her internet. Turns out her husband is dicking with the DSL on the side of the house. Ummm, dude, it's great that your stealing DSL trying to get back in good graces with you're separated wife. But I have literally $ thousands at stake here. Do you think we could get that little ol internet working again???

So he gets it going. For about a minute, then it goes out again. I go on the side of the house. He's dicking with it. Restraint. Calm thoughts. DUDE, can we please just get it back to where it was when it was working? That was a good happy place. Again, thousands of dollars here. Husband is some mamby pamby British dude who looks consternated and constipated. Can't seem to get it working. Not helping my blood pressure.

So I run over to my friend's a few blocks away. I figure I'll just install PS on her computer and play there. Well someone is stealing her DSL apparently, because the PS client is going to take 17 freaking minutes to download. Jesus. So I run back to my house to get my laptop. Which is a pain because the battery is completely defunct.

While I am at my house. The internet is working. I'm at the final table of the 90-man, w/a crappy stack. I see SB raise into my BB, I push back with QJo. He calls with 22. I see a J on the flop. The internet dies again. I run out the front door screaming STOP [censored] MESSING WITH IT! I go over the side of the house and dude is sitting there dicking around with his screwdriver in the box, looking sheepish. JESUS [censored] CHRIST. I go back in my house, spewing a steady stream of expleteives to rival the dad in Chistmas Story--only the whole neighborhood could very clearly understand every word. No workie. I hear him jump in his truck and squeal off. Apparently he was fearing for his safety or something. Possibly a good move. I'm pretty sure I could never get violent over something like this. But if I could, this would be the time.

So I run back to my friend's with my laptop. I manage to just barely log onto PS and keep getting disconnected. But I did double up on that QJo hand. And once I finally bust out of the WSOP freeroll, her internet seems to be able to handle one PS table, no lobby. I wind up winning the tourney. Freaking crazy day. I told my neighbor I won, the next time I saw her. She expressed great relief, but I'm pretty sure never once apologized for the whole thing. What a dingbat.

So I have a Netzero backup now, but if the whole phone line goes out, that's not going to help much.
