Re: comments? found this hand interesting - 109 speed
Looks somewhat standard to me. OOP not leading the flop is probably wise, especially against this many, and it seems like an easy call when it comes back around. Ditton on the turn. I'm a bit surprised the river c/r worked - I'm pretty sure I find a fold if I'm him in that spot. So, in that frame of mind, I might have bet the river, probably 1/2-2/3 pot.

Re: comments? found this hand interesting - 109 speed
main thing is that when I checked I didn't feel like I knew where I stood (was a bit scared of turn min raiser once that jack comes), but after the action I felt everything was clear.

Re: comments? found this hand interesting - 109 speed
hi curtains,
whats the deal with sirrob's small flop and turn bets? is this "normal" at the 109s+ or just bad bets? also, what would be the proper bet size for sirrob on the flop and turn... thanks. |

[/ QUOTE ] not necessarily normal, just bad bets..especially if he is willing to pay off a flush on river. In most cases someone is going to re-raise this weak flop bet which is going to put him in a bad situation given that he is just inducing a big-pot without a big hand. |
Re: comments? found this hand interesting - 109 speed
wow.. tpgk min bets on a flush draw flop @109's?
whats with the min raise on the turn by bob?! on the river, would you have folded your nut flush to a min raise by bob? |
Re: comments? found this hand interesting - 109 speed
I dunno I thought it was tough spot, but really just betting could be the best. The slight problem is that IF I bet and Bob raises, it's really an unpleasant situation. He'd have to be totally insane (which we know many people are) to not have my flush beat. I checked basically for information and would have used my feel to determine the action if and when Bob bets, but possibly risking that it gets checked around is too big a risk with the strength of my hand.
Oh well, I doubled up, I'll just be results oriented for now My favorite hands are those in which you check on the river and you aren't really planning on check raising necessarily, but something in the action convinces you that your hand is definitely the best, and so you actually do end up check raising. But in this case my hand may just have way too much value for it to fall into this category... |
Re: comments? found this hand interesting - 109 speed
Sirob loves to donk off his stack in L1/2, a river checkraise is definitely the best value here. I must add that calling the CR versus not only a highly obvious flush but also an extremely tight TAG is pretty bad.
|
Re: comments? found this hand interesting - 109 speed
Well of course his call is downright dreadful! He has maybe 0% chance to be ahead?

Over 528 hands with Sirob in the past mth or so, I have him at a 40 % VPIP @ lev1 |

[/ QUOTE ] How do you know you are ahead when he bet t300, which is about 1/3 of the pot(pot=t840)? do you push if he bets >1/2 pot? do you call if he pushes? and, on the villian's side, how much should he bet if he has a full house (e.g., KJ)? |

Re: comments? found this hand interesting - 109 speed
I don't like the turn call unless you're sure that you get paid off huge on the river if the club hits.

I don't like the turn call unless you're sure that you get paid off huge on the river if the club hits. [/ QUOTE ] Really? You're getting pretty close to direct odds to call it, and it's probably pretty rare that you won't get paid at least marginally more when you do hit. |

[/ QUOTE ] He is squeezed in between the bettor and the min raiser so that kind of sucks, but I wont pretend I throw it away either. When cold calling you scream draw so after sirob failed to reraise when it came back to him, two pair and set nearly disappeared from his range. Thus, I like the check-raise. |
Re: comments? found this hand interesting - 109 speed
This is exactly what happens when I play. Except the guy calls and turns over KJo...or 22 or 44...
Wait you won????? |
Re: comments? found this hand interesting - 109 speed
I like the way this hand was played.

[/ QUOTE ] Not closing the action on the turn, being OOP on the river, and tournament considerations would make me less willing to get involved. I don't hate curtains play though, just wanted to add to the thread that calling on the turn isn't a lock. |

Re: comments? found this hand interesting - 109 speed
The only thing I'd like to add is that this is really only a good play against a huge callbox. It comes out later in the thread that it looks like that's what this guy is, but when I first read the OP I thought check call on the river was good. Not a lot of hands a decent player will call you with on the river that you beat and it's not totally nuts for you to be beat.

Re: comments? found this hand interesting - 109 speed
seems pretty standard to me.
