Low Limit STT pros?
Just curious if these guys even exist, I mean, is it even possible to make a "living" playing as low as $5 and $10 tournaments? I wonder what kind of "Earn rate" you cuold expect if you 8 tabled low limit STTs for 8hrs a day.
Also, on a related note, I'm curious how many regulars actually play strictly STTs -- and actually built up from lower limits, that is, if anyone cares to share. I hope this isn't off-topic, I'm just curious |
Re: Low Limit STT pros?
read the FAQ
the 11s theoretically are the lowest level you can really "make a living" playing, but i dont know of any one person who makes their living playing strictly 11 STTS. |
Re: Low Limit STT pros?
slimbob I think is making a living off the Stars 15+1s, however he lives in Thailand and is working up to the 27+2s.

if you 8 tabled low limit STTs for 8hrs a day [/ QUOTE ] that is not the easiest thing in the word to do... IMO you could certainly live modestly supporting only yourslef by just playing $16s or lower...but there's really no reason to stop there.. |
Re: Low Limit STT pros?
While you could make a living as a young single person in the $11's, the $22's seem to be more of a sweet spot around here. The competition is still quite weak and the pay is obviously better.
Most people do tend to move up as bankroll grows, though, for obvious reasons. |
Re: Low Limit STT pros?
.2 (20% ROI) x 11 (buyin) x 50 (games/day) x 5 (days/week) x 52 (weeks/year) = $28,600. Not bad. I won't be doing much better when I start my teaching job. If you could do that, though, why not move up and make more?

That's like 3 hours ten tabling.

Re: Low Limit STT pros?
Check out my blog, I have moved to the 22's now but I first spent time at $11's. My results were:
$11's Played = 556 Profit = $1,554 ROI = 25.41% ITM = 39.75% Avg Finish = 4.45 This was about 2.5 weeks of play. It is possible though for some people to play 1000+ SNGs a month. That would be 2200 or so a month at 20% ROI, which is enough for a single guy without a ton of bills to live on. |

Re: Low Limit STT pros?
They don't exist because anyone who is good enough to beat the $11s for 20% and dedicate enough to play 50+ games a day will be at the $22s after a week.

Re: Low Limit STT pros?
I'm a lurker for the most part, but here's my experience being a pro low stakes STT grinder.
Right after I graduated college, I decided not to get a job right away but instead try my hand at being a "pro" for a little while. I 6 tabled the 22s for 8 months. After about 6000 22s, I had a 14% ROI. If you do the math, this is not a large sum of money for 8 months of work. I was having a blast with all the freedom I had for the first several months, but by about month 6 I was ready to shoot myself and could barely make myself play anymore. Because of bills I could never get a large enough roll to try out higher stakes. I was playing like a complete robot and never had the motivation to try to bring my game beyond ABC pushbot poker playing. I think I played 400 and 200 STTs my last two months, respectively. Finally I caved and I went out and actually used my degree to get your run of the mill $45k a year office job. My stress levels have dropped tremendously. I still play poker on the side and now I don't have to constantly cash out my roll, and I can give up playing time to actually study the game and get better now too. I'm almost ready to try my hand at the 55s. Is it possible to grind out a living at low stakes? Absolutely. Do I recommend it? I thing it would be very hard for someone to continuously grind 11s or 22s for months and months without going insane. I don't know if I'd ever try my hand at being a poker pro again, but I know if I do, I'm going to make sure I'm at least a proven winner at the 55s. I also want to have plenty in my savings for my own sanity during huge downswings. |

Assuming that you can beat the games:
Yes you can make a living, if you're single, and frugal. And you're 8 hrs. a day notion is unrealistic. Steve |

Re: Low Limit STT pros?
6000 over 8 months with say, 22 playing days per month, only comes out to a little over 34 SNGs a day. With a 14% ROI, you're barely making over $100 a day. Of course that's not alot of money. Bump that up to 75 and you're now at $231. The money is not just in ROI, it's also volume.

Re: Low Limit STT pros?
If you multitable $11 speeds with a 20% ROI, 3 hours per day (thats about 1500 SNGs per month) you can make a DAMN good living in Sweden.
Thats about $3300 and it's double the amount I would make if I worked at a normal job, or about the same as a friend of mine who is a fireman. THATS GOOD!!! And it's only 3 hours per day and you can work whenever you wan't (for example when watching world cup ). Also thats only by playing $11, if you have a bankroll the $22 and $33 is about the same so... But then again, I live in Sweden. |
Re: Low Limit STT pros?
I have been checking your blog every now and then. I think you can be a good one. Best of luck!

Re: Low Limit STT pros?
i made 991 dollars in may playing $11s.
my ROI was around 10.5% of almost 1000 sngs. played 8 minute levels on doyle's room, similar structure to new party sngs. starting bankroll about $1000. (no other income/capital) if you play stars turbos you have about 40 minutes to finish a set, which means you can easily play 8 an hour with enough rest for the eyes and brain in the middle, plus bathroom break. of course playing continuous you could easily put 25 into 2 hours and thus play 4 hours a day for 50/day, 1500/month, which, obviously, at 10% ROI would be 1500/3000 at the $11s/$22s. so yes it's quite possible. edit: stars doesn't have $11 turbos so make that $900/$2400 at the $6/$16s -torx |
