GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
300/600 NL with $100 antes and a $100K minimum buyin on now. So far, its decent. Gabe Kaplan is the color guy and is excellent as always.
Seeing Negreanu throw in 2 50K bricks of 100s is a nice change of pace from flourescent tournament chips |
Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
the amount of money they literally "throw" around is remarkable

Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
Yea...This is pretty awesome
|
Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
Negreanu must mean "luckbox" in some screwball language.

Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)

The Doc checking AA twice on a board of K-Q-5?
*shaking head* |
Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
Does anyone know if any other network (ESPN) is due to pick up reruns of this show...?
I live for whatever reason on Planet No GSN. |
Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
Maybe GSN.com has something.
|
Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
I need a poker fashion closet like that.

Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
Even the pros chase.
|
Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
At this point I'm pretty convinced that Ted Forrest is a weird dude
|
Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
Does anybody know if the players get any kind of appearance fee to be on the show? I can't see them doing it for nothing.
|
Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
I didnt see all of it. Who won/lost the most?
|
Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
yea they get something. it was DN blog
maybe 1k-2k per hour also, was doyle pushing 500k with AK dumb or was that just me? |
Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
[ QUOTE ]
I didnt see all of it. Who won/lost the most? [/ QUOTE ] Dr. Amir won like 140K or something and Forrest lost over 100K. Mostly just because of the set over set hand. |

also, was doyle pushing 500k with AK dumb or was that just me? [/ QUOTE ] Only he and Daniel bought in for more than 100K, and Daniel already folded so he was really pushing 100K. Probably still a little excessive. |
Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
This show really is great! I just wish it was in high-definition.

Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
Hrmm where are all the action hands from day one that Dan has in his blog?
I guess they will be in the other shows |
Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
They are putting 24 hours of play into 13 episodes. So tonight was just the first 1/13th of play, or about two hours -- which is about the first quarter of the first day. In Daniel's blog, he says he started off well on the first day. So the bad beats will probably start to come in the latter part of the day, on episodes 3 and 4.

How many episodes total? It was pretty much ABC poker, atleast this episode. Looked a bit tight aside from Dan trying to force some action. |
Disappointing so far
I was expecting a lot more analysis- the set/set hand on the wheel board for one thing was crying out for a discussion.
I hope it gets better, or I'm downgrading Kaplan as a poker announcer. Who is the other mouth? So far I'm a bit disappointed. Interesting to see some of the early play- did DN really push over a $9K pot with $1 million?- but the show could use more work. [i]edit- quote of the show so far was Kaplan's comment after the Stacked promo tournament "Daniel, it's nice when you're sucking out on 12 year olds" |

Daniel was running over the game, and getting a lot of action, so he wanted to let the others know "I'm here too, ya know". He was pretty sure he had the best hand, and wasn't going to get called. |

I was waiting for discussion of why Nasseri should push (or not, though I don't know what the argument would be for that). |
Re: Disappointing so far
I like how ted forest reloaded and pulled out 2 chips of 25k each like they were change left over in his pockets.

Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
How about that 10 10 laydown on a 7 high board by Jerry Buss. Granted Daniel made a huge overbet, how many people go broke there thinking they "trapped" the aggressive player. I thought Buss was going to get his money in there for sure.

Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
I am enjoying the show so far. I am looking forward to seeing more of the cash game pros in their element. Ted Forrest lost his only big pot, but the beauty of cash games is that there will be many more to come.
Barry Greenstein has made a big deal about the difference between cash players and tournament players. So far he isn't dazzling as a cash player. I am interested to see how he does. I can hardly wait for the next one. TedForrestFan www.TedForrestFans.com "The home of all things Ted Forrest" |
Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
I always kind of wondered but never really paid attn or cared enough to pay attn, but those cameras that fox sports uses on top of that glass seems kind of sketch. I can definitly see reflections of their chips and sleeves and whatnot so it doesn't seem that ridiculous that their cards could be visible at least at some angle which seems absurd for these stakes.

He makes his living playing poker, so he obviously wins a lot more than he loses. I just feel like he has more to prove since he has gone off on how much better cash players are than tournament players. |
Re: GSN High Stakes Poker on now (9 PM EST)
Worst commentary ever.
That lead guy (AJ Styles or whatever his name is)...terrible. Bad voice, no knowledge, no powers of English. Wow. Absolutely killed it for me. Loved Ted Forrest's complete disregard for $50K in chips. "Is this enough for the ice cream?" |
