Does anyone know a casino(s) in Southern California that offers $1/$2 limit hold'em? Thanks in advance.

Re: microlimits in Southern CA?
Commerce may have it, I have seen 2/4 there. Club 1 in Fresno (yeah, not socal) has it.

Re: microlimits in Southern CA?
oceans has it in the tournment room i believe.
the real question though is why? why would you want to play live micro limits? |
Re: microlimits in Southern CA?
Both Commerce and The Bicycle Club definately have 1/2

Thanks. I only have the bankroll for $1/$2, so I've been playing online. It will be nice to get out from behind the computer.

Oceans has 1/2, but I hear the rake is pretty stupid.

Re: microlimits in Southern CA?
Like others have said, Commerce, The Bike and Oceans 11 all have $1/$2.
At Commerce, go up the large staircase in the center of the casino to find $1/$2 and $2/$4 and $40NL. The small stakes games were moved from the bottom floor to the ballroom during the last WPT event. I'm not sure why. Commerce comps you a decent dinner. Last time I was there on a Friday, Commerce had 3 tables going and had to open a fourth. However, there were twice as many $2/$4 tables going. Unlike the tables on the ground floor, the tables in the ballroom don't have the autoshufflers. Be happy if you play more than 25 hands an hour. Bring your TAG game, watch what people cold-call and showdown with - you will be amazed, roll your eyes when people keep switching tables or when they buy in for $10, push (raise) your equity when appropriate - don't worry, you won't chase them out because they'll still call you, suited connectors and flopped sets are your friends, people will cold call with A-rag and call to the river hoping to catch that Ace (sometimes they will catch it), and remember to enjoy the poker room experience. There's nothing like the sound and feel of poker chips. |

Re: microlimits in Southern CA?
I absoluely, positively hate those micro games. Way too much variance with too many -20bb stacks. No room to manuever at all. NL shouldn't be played that way. I'd rather play online if lack of money is a large concern until I had a large enough roll. But hopefully you'll do good. Good luck!

Re: microlimits in Southern CA?
TAG = Tight Aggresive. Also try not to get too annoyed with
people yelling "SETUP" every ten minutes and constantly switching chairs to get a "lucky" seat. |
Re: microlimits in Southern CA?
There are 2 cardrooms in my town. The lowest limit one spreads is $3/6. The lowest game the other spreads is $4/8
The skill level at both tables are identical. $4/8 is more profitable just because there is more money per bet. Buy in with 25 BBs whatever game you decide on and just play smart poker. |
For microlimits play no limit!

[/ QUOTE ] My guess is that you will hate limit games in a So-Cal B&M when the limits are this small. Keep in mind full collection plus jackpot is taken on any flop in LA and the game (from limited observation I admit) plays relatively smaller than 2/4, 3/6 and especially 4/8 limit because it tends to have more bottom feeding regular nitty types with little gamble. Better deal on a small BR is to go to Hawaiian Gardens and play the $20 fixed buy no limit located in the bar area. This is a perfect spot for partying donks. Regular and jackpot drop is huge relative to the $1 big blind but this game isn't about a battle of the blinds, it's just pure action, especially on weekend nights. Even though several buy-ins are taken off the tables every hour in drop figure an average of one buy-in is added to the table every hand since someone goes busted and re buys another Jackson. The stacks actually grow over time! I've killed time there waiting for traffic to clear (normally I play the $300 or $500 buy games) and had fun and made a couple decent scores. At my age though I look like some sort of child molester in that crowd ~ Rick |
