Where\'s the money?
 

It seems to me that limit cash games are becoming increasingly harder to beat online. I play at party poker and the games seem to have tightened up over the last several months. It is not uncommon to see several hands fold to the blinds in .50/1. I have checked other sites and none seem to have any better view flop percentages. When I go to the local card club the games are significanly looser. Can anyone give me a recommendation on where the dead money is online? Should I be switching to tournaments? If so, limit or no limit and which site has the easiest games to beat?

Online poker is maturing. Money is not as easy as it was, but good games are still there if you look.

I think there will be an influx of beginners after the WSOP this year. The more it is on television, the more people that will play (who don't know how to play).

Just because players are tight doesn't mean they know how to play. Although the games are not as easy as they used to be, work on your post-flop game and you'll be just fine.

I've noticed this too on Party, and also the Cryptos. The growth in online poker has slowed significantly since the lucrative days back in the summer '04.

Less new players signing up means fish at the lower limits.

Also the information available to new players has increased substantially so most of the other players at your table will probably have read the same books you have, use Pokertracker, and browse the same forums etc.

These things gave the informed player a distinct advantage in the past - but if everyone has the same info, that information no longer becomes an advantage.

Ed Miller argues that there is an large influx of players turning pro and they will become unstuck in a few years when there is little dead money left, and the pickings become very thin.

I play on several differnt sites, but if there look to be poor games on one site, I'll check another.

Untrue. This is becoming a myth that online poker is harder to beat (read: make money of). Adapt, get yourself an edge.

the dead $ comes from the fish- this seems like common sense

also, games seem easier and easier to beat nowadays
