Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
I read that email just now and thought that, at my current stakes, It isn't quite worth putting in the 84k raked hands to play in the wsop.
Assuming I could get 1k raked hands an hour 12 tabling, I would only need to play for 84 hours, 12 hours a day for the 7 day period... But, then again, this promotion isn't for low stakes players like myself |
Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
Where can I see what level (gold/silver/blue) i am??

Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
I'm considering giving it a try, but it sucks being at a disadvantage since I play NL, and not at the highest levels - so I'm not even sure it can be done.
I've never paid attention to the earlier similar promos. Will 30 guys make it in time, or will I have to generate much more than 3570 points a day (25000/7) ? Come to think of it, I'm only a silver too, so that makes it even harder to compete... Maybe not worth the try. |
Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
As far as I know they discontinued the blue/silver/gold differentiation.

Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
Stupid questions:
"between Friday, June 9 and Thursday, June 15" - is that 6 or 7 days? I assume the promotion lasts for a full week? And does it even matter? Will it be over after 5 because 30 guys have made it? Ah well, I'm sending them an email... |

Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
Please note that you have to already have 25k points hanging around in your account to be able to do this (because you will have to spend 50k for the 50k for the entry).
Also note that it doesn't appear you are getting anything except the main-event seat. No cash for travel or hotel it would appear. This might be a factor for some of you who are thinking about it. Obviously this promo is pretty much the same as the one that me and Metetron did back in December for the Party cruise. I played about 40k hands total in 60 hours (with only 5 or so hours of sleep total during that stretch). Mostly 8-9 tabling. I also did this promo the year before my seat on the cruise, but they only allowed 4-tables max at that time and you actually DID get credit for the happy-hours bonus points during that one. Took me 4+ days of 10/20 6-max the first time I did it. Not sure if the competition will be more fierce for this one or not then the last one. I think a lot of people decided not to try it because it started on Dec 24 and they had silly little things like 'family gatherings' get in the way. Now that it's 12-tables max certainly helps some people. But I think it hurts overall because it's possible they'll get to 30 people faster. And I also think you can get more points now on certain games that weren't available before. If I had 25k points hanging around (I spent them all) I would attempt to get my Party account reinstated if they would keep me as a VIP and would probably do this. If you can get 500 points an hour at whatever stakes you are playing then you can knock it out in 50 hours of playing. So for a $10k seat you are getting an extra $200 in value IF you assume you are one of the first 30 to get there. If you are going really slowly and you give yourself only a 50% chance of getting the seat then you are still getting $100/hr in value. If you are 10-tabling then this is $10/hr per table. it takes some real dedication to sit there for a couple of 20-hour stretches of 10-tabling or whatever and then STILL need another 10 hours or so to get there. I was really seeing things by the end of my run and I felt like crap. My first year I did it I broke-even on my 4-tables...and then I placed in the money in the tournament and won $5200. This year when I did it I lost about $4k chasing after the damn points. And I didn't cash in the tourney. And I also lost in the cash-games on the trip as well. But we again had an amazing time on the cruise so it was all okay in my book. |

Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
Bob, you played all day on Christmas day? I hope you're Jewish or Muslim because I truly feel bad for you otherwise.
|
Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
You mean that Party hasn't updated it in over a year.
It says '2005'. This is when they started the VIP club bit. I know a few players who were extremely confused by Party's negligence to update their on site. At one point their site had zero info about having to earn a certain amount of points each quarter. They kept insisting it was just based on how much you earned in the first 3 months of the year and there was no info about your status resetting every 3 months. I finally figured it out after 2 or 3 e-mails to them asking why I wasn't silver or gold anymore and what happened. Note that Stars VIP club (and most other sites) make it really freaking clear what you need to do to get to a certain level and how much you need to play in order to stay there. Since one assumes the point of the club is to provide incentive to actually play MORE I can't figure out why Party doesn't give such details to their players as easily. Some marketers might consider bombarding their players with stuff like, "Hey!! Only 23,432 points to go until Gold. And you only have until June 30 to get there!!" (granted, Party does do this with some of their other promos, especially via the pop-ups...but they seem to have ignored the whole bit about tghe gold/silver/bronze information sharing). |
Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
I had visited my parents in Florida a couple of weeks earlier and we kind of had our 'holidays' then.
My GF is a nurse at a hospital and works 13-hour shifts on weekends. XMas Eve and XMas were on Sat and Sun this year. And she had already used a lot of her vacation time on various trips that I take her on (and this included the cruise in March that I was pretty sure I was going to win). I was going to get over to her place XMas night for dinner with her family but the plans got cancelled. She was exhausted from a tougher-than-usual stretch at work. And I was pretty fried from all my playing and was a little behind where I wanted to be. We had XMas dinner on Dec 26 instead. I played most of the 48 hours from Dec 24, 12:01am through Dec 25, 11:59pm. Just stayed in and watched a whole lot of football while hitting the 10-tables. The cruise was great and it was worth it. FWIW (since you asked) - I'm not religious, but my family and GF do celebrate XMas. |

Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
Chalk me up for a seat. 2 things:
1. What exact time can I start playing? 12 am Eastern? 2. "to reach the target and send an email to will be awarded a seat" Points arent updated in realt time are they? DO you just start spamming them that you made it for the last 10 hours or whatever... Thanks |

Just wanted to make sure you weren't home alone for the holidays, Bob. Wasn't trying to dig at you.
Nuthin but luv. |
Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
no probs. I just happened to luck-out on that one in that I had nothing going on over the holidays...whereas many of those who might have been interested obviously had other obligations.
this weekend (if I decide to go for it) I've got French Open tennis beginning around 4am, world-cup soccer at around 11:00am I think, and then baseball or NBA stuff at night. Good weekend for something like this. |

Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
MicroBob & the rest of us considering 10-tabling limit tables to do this promo,
I think I just convinced myself I have Zero shot at being one of the 1st 30. 1) Read this in the STT forum: 30 random high stakes sng player will complete this within the first 2 days. killing yourself trying to get it done in 5 or 6 days is silly. citanul 2) Read this on the Party "how to earn points" page Tournaments that have $40 - $59 fees Participants in these tournaments will be awarded 85 PartyPoints Tournaments that have $60 or more fees Participants in these tournaments will be awarded 100 PartyPoints 3) Realized that Gold SNG players who 10-table SNGs can earn about 1500-2000 regular points/man-hour. 4) Realized that even if there aren't 30 high-stakes STT players doing this, my estimated 500 points/man-hour (I'm Silver) will likely be way short of the rate I need to get this done. Best of luck to you Bob and anyone else who tries, but looks like I'm quitting before I begin |
Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
Tournaments that have $40 - $59 fees Participants in these tournaments will be awarded 85 PartyPoints
Tournaments that have $60 or more fees Participants in these tournaments will be awarded 100 PartyPoints I agree that the high level tourney players can do this quicker but they only play tourneys with fees of 9,15, or 30 at most. So they get a lot of points but not quite as much as above. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yup you're absolutely right Davey- my bad. Unfortunately... Tournaments that have $26 - $39 fees Participants in these tournaments will be awarded 70 PartyPoints (so 140 per for Gold) Throw in the fact that Gold STTs can probably play 10-15 Speed tourneys an hour and sadly, they're still able to easily clear 1,400-2,000 regular points / man-hour. I'd think there's quite a few STTers who can hit their 25,000 points before Friday night. Even though you're right it's not as bad as I said, I think I'm still not going to try now. It would have been a sick kind of fun (sort of like trying to hit EVERY PokerStars 5B milestone hand), but fun. |

any thoughts on whether they really limit it ot the first 30 players who complete this? during the cruise promo, this was talked about a little. we never heard from anyone who completed and was denied from what i remember.

goddamit, I don't think its humanly possible for a NL player to get this bonus. I could easily put in 40 hrs 10 tabling this week and get this if Party did any justice to NL players at all.

Basically any hand where someone puts in a non donk raise pf is raked at least 1/2 of max rake, if there are any bets called after the flop it is full rake. I don't see how that is less rake. |
Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
Yes, they 'improved' the NL points structure but it is still way out of whack on certain levels.
FWIW - I'm no longer pursuing this. I gave it a shot but I as getting WAY too tired and then lost all the money that I had won when I started. Additionally, I'm already not feeling too hot after 1 night of trying it. And the party software was giving me fits. At the start I was able to 12-table 3/6 and 5/10 full with very little effort and was up over 100BB's. After I got tired I gave back all of that and another 100BB's on top of that. PT and PAHud were pretty sluggish though. Today there seem to be wait-list problems. Not sure if this is a regular thing or not but I am still getting called to tables and STILL not able to sit (because it says reserved). It's annoying. It took me over an hour just to get on 8 tables...while constantly getting called to others where I was unable to sit...and then trying to keep playing semi-compentently on the other tables I had going. It was way too much. It's a great promotion with great value to it for those who understand the party-bugs better than I do. And I still think that you can do it semi-casually at 3/6 and 5/10 and still have a chance of making it there. But my bankroll is a little thin these days and I've taken 4 vacations in the last 4 months so I think it's time to stop chasing all this tempting WSOP stuff that's out there and focus on actually making an income and being responsible about my 'job'. |
Re: -anyone giving the Party WSOP promo a shot?
Microbob,
I had the same waitlist problems that you did. It seems that sometimes many tables appear when u join the waitlist. You have to join them in the order that they appeared (PartyPoker stacks them so that puts them in reverse order). Its backwards as hell, but once you get used to it, it doesn't seem that much more backwards then all the other stuff PartyPoker does (God I'm in a bad mood today). |
