Buying fireworks soon. Please help!

Alright, I'm going to buy fireworks in a week or two. I've never really spent much on fireworks(couple of bucks here and there for some flyers), but this year I want to spend a decent amount. All the experts on fireworks, help me out.

-I heard Black Cats are good. Are they alot of money? Any certain kinds of BC's should I look for?

-What are the best kinds to get? I want flyers, no fountain crap. I've bought parachuters, tanks, boats, and another kind before, and I really liked those. Fun to play with.

-Roman candles and bottle rockets are a must, right?

From last year :

The huge roman candle at the bottom is a 140 shot monster... it was awesome!!!!

Also, get Mortars! You won't be disappointed!

FWIW, about a 1/4 of these got thrown in the river by the cops when we went ape [censored] with them down by the Des Moines river. The cops just tossed them in

But that's all that happened, so it's all good

I LOVE THE FOURTH!!!!

Aha, WW, a fellow Des Moinesian... good to see.

I have to echo your sentiments, mortars are important. You can even get the cheap ones, 5.95 for 6 shots, I like to light 3 or 6 of these at a time (use a separate tube for each, duh!) and they make a nice show. Last year I also got some that were a bit more expensive, and they were even cooler.

Saturn Missiles are key, figure out which size is priced the best and stock up- again, these should be lit 2-6 at a time for maximum noise/obnoxiousness. In closing, I love the "helicopters" which you put on the ground and they fly/spin up into the air. Have fun!!

WW, you are my new hero, how much did you spend? Im a fireworks freak. We got a 75ft roll of firecrackers a couple of years ago, unrolled it in the median on a semi-busy street at midnight, and lit it. Took 30minutes for all the fireworks to go, cops got called, rather than put it out they sat and watched them, laughing.

"Don't worry man, it's really cool"

"Ok, but only one... I don't wanna get caught"

::Lights::

"HOLY [censored] OMG WTF THAT WAS SO [censored] HUGE AND LOUD, NO MORE EVER AGAIN!!!!"

5 minutes later...

"OK ONE MORE!!!"

We were sooo ripped lmao

damn, that's awesome... that's something you'd expect to find on YouTube.

The bill was 170 bucks, but they had a deal where you get 20% more of your total bill... so when I went to checkout I got 34 more dollars of fireworks for free.

Pretty sweet deal, I still have a bunch left. Definately making a trip down to Missouri tho, maybe a few 2+2 Des Moinesians can come along with HardNine and myself (damn that sounds bad...)

ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go buy a large metal pipe that is threaded on both ends, two end caps, a tube of silicone sealant, some fuse, and a couple of cans of FFFF gunpowder (tell the gun shop owner that your uncle has a muzzle loader and asked you to pick it up for him if he asks). Drill a fuse sized hole in the center of the pipe, insert the fuse, and smear some silicone around the base of the fuse. Screw one endcap on, then dump your powder into the pipe. Liberally coat the threads of the pipe with silicone and very carefully screw the remaining cap on. Don't be anywhere near this thing when it goes off. It should be pretty cheap to build and the thrill of possibly killing yourself is way more exhillarating than maybe losing a digit or your hand. Also, if you're within 200 yards of this thing when it goes off, the concussion will blow your mind and make chandeliers swing for blocks.

Get morters. Lots of morters. Everything else becomes effectively worthless after a good morter show.
