Question for limit players

What are some tips that you would be able to give me to help make me a better player. Right now it seems as if whatever I do I will [censored] it up and lose.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated to help me become a winning limit player.

Re: Question for limit players

Wow, very broad question. I'd start by getting a good base. "Winning Low Limit Holdem" by Sklansky and Miller is a great read and should get you started on the right track. There are A LOT of variables to having a good limit game. Study, play, and read here on the forums. If you focus hard enough you can be a good player.

Play TAG.
Always consider your pot odds.
Don't just plunge into a pot with an automatic raise or reraise, consider what building a pot does for the come hands.

Probably play less hands... Probably continuation bet a little more... Value bet more at low limits, and semi bluff less at low limits.

Best of luck bro.

I have the one and only tip you need.
Play against players who play worse than you do.

I am a beginner, surely you are a more experienced player, having said that, I believe one way to improve ones play is to analyze real hands you played and find out if the statistics/odds were right or wrong.

Like if I fold on the flop, but are unsure if It was right I directly analyze the same situation in a computerprogram (wilson or pokerodds). Or if somone beat me with a hand that I find they should have folded earlier, I analyze/play the situation, from the flop or the turn to find out if I can learn something. Example: all the possible combinations of a pair appearing on the flop: low-/middle-/high pair on the board, pocketpairs with 2-/3 flush or 2-/3 straightdraws, to find systematic errors I make.

Also, when nothing seems too work I try to figure out if
my bad results is possibly within the normal variation, so I compare the results to my historic standard deviation. (if you don't know what I mean see "Gambling theory and other topics" by Mason Malmuth)

Be more aggressive, if you think you have the best hand bet/raise.

Play tighter, if it looks good that doesn't mean it IS good.

I disagree, winning low limit hold em is a fine book, its just that SSHE is even better.

play quailty hands from good position. only play very strong hands up front for a rasie and loosen from there as your position improves but still only play 2 good cards. to help with this i have been playing 2 tables at once to help me not get bored and it has for sure tightened up my starting selection

I guess the first thing I should mention is that no matter how well you play, you will get screwed over plenty of times...sometimes for much longer than you thought was possible. Other than that, go play the SH tables, and use tracker well and post specific questions here. It is kind of tough to give good advice to such a general question with out PT stats or a couple hands to look at.
