Poker World Record

For those who are interested, I will be attempting the Guiness Book of World Records (GWR), poker world record later this summer. The current world record is only 72 hours.

Before everyone gets on here and says they know so and so has done 100+ hours, I know, I know. I personally have done over 100+ hours as well. But this is the GWR official record, so that is the record I will be attempting.

You can stay up to date at www.pokerworldrecord.blogspot.com

For those who don't care, I'm sorry I wasted your time.

Will you be taking drugs to help in this attempt?

Re: Poker World Record

Yes this is live.

The location will be announced on www.pokerworldrecord.blogspot.com in a few weeks.

No drugs. Not even Red Bull.

No, you will not set it the day after I do it. This is done officially through the Guiness Book of World Records. This is not a bragging contest. It's just a record thingy done through them.

Thank you.

"Not even Red Bull."

think again. you could probably get a nice sponsorship from red bull for exactly this sort of thing. it'd be a great marketing stunt for their product.

contact them tomorrow. thank me later.

Re: Poker World Record

mike l.,

Red bull is too busy sponsoring a bunch of worthless action sports that nobody gives a [censored] about to give him money for mentioning red bull a few times in the ensuing newspaper/magazine stuff. They don't sponsor bodyboarding, but hey they've got the kiteboarders who love energy drinks crowd in the bag! Aka I'm really bitter.

I don't mean this in the derogatory way, but... who are you? You referred to yourself as the "semi-famous Mike Cunningham." Bio?

Anyway, gl. This sounds very tough to me.

Re: Poker World Record

For those who were interested in the 'world record attempt' here's an update. It doesn't look good. I have a few interviews coming up for a job and the casino is lagging around with setting a date, so I'm not sure I'm even going to be in this state when/if they set a date.

I am hopeful to maybe get in touch with Phil Gordon and make this attempt next summer in conjunction with a fundraiser for his Put a Bad Beat on Cancer foundation.

In other news, for those who were interested in the book I wrote on turning pro in poker, it is ready for purchase. You can preview it at www.mcpoker.us

HOpe all is well,

This smells like spam.

Also, I heard that Andy Beal already beat this record.

Re: Poker World Record

No no, no spam. For those who know me, they know about this record and my attempt at it.

Also in response to your Andy Beal comment, while I realize you are making ANOTHER Andy Beal joke, when I decided to go about breaking this record, I realized that it would not be the longest poker session ever played, merely the longest poker session played under the Guiness Book of World Records rules. I personally have played longer than the current world record, just not in accordance to their rules.

Hope all is well,
mc

I'm pretty sure this is very lame. Oh it is rigged too. If the world record isn't actually the world record, then it is rigged. Clearly rigged.

Re: Poker World Record

According to his bio he's 'the most famous non-famous poker player in the world'.

I'm not great at math, but I'm not sure that adds up to semi-famous.

mcpoker66 07-03-2006 05:49 PM

Re: Poker World Record

Yowzer's. You people are brutal. Guess I should have seen this coming.

I say "most famous non-famous" poker player because I was called that once by a player on FTP. That's the only reason. Relax.

The Mike Cunningham in the Hendon Mob database is not me. If you read the book, you will realize that I do not play tournaments.

In regards to what college in OH I will be interviewing at, I do not want to let that information out as I have been burned in the past with internet strangers delving into my personal work life.
