5/10 6-max - dealing w the reraiser
This is somewhat in response to the recent thread about dealing with reraising.
I started playing 6-max recently - i'm playing 30/20, and have found it incredible how often I am getting repopped. I'm not complaining, since it's always the same guys, who are each on a few of my tables. Clearly they realize I have a loose range, but they are simply reraising me far too often. All I have to do is resteal their reraise once every 3-4 times they repop me, or better yet their reraise+continuation bet once every 5-10 times. The villains in all three of these hands are about 25/16 aggressive multitablers (two of them are the same villain). They've been repopping me alot, and usually I just fold. Here are some hands: ----------- Party Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $5/$10 6 players Converter Stack sizes: Hero: $1443 UTG+1: $995 CO: $958.75 Button: $940 SB: $1038 BB: $3335.10 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is UTG with T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Hero raises to $30, 2 folds, Button calls, SB folds, BB raises to $110, Hero raises to $275. ----------- Party Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $5/$10 5 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $423.39 CO: $935 Button: $1261 Hero: $1134.36 BB: $1426.56 Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is SB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 folds, Button raises to $35, Hero calls, BB raises to $130, Button calls, Hero calls. Re: 5/10 6-max - dealing w the reraiser
hand 2 is ugly. pf call is meh, whatever w/3way, but hes not betting into a 3-way reraised K-high flop w/AQo

Re: 5/10 6-max - dealing w the reraiser
This [censored] is nuts.
Should I be doing more of this? |
Re: 5/10 6-max - dealing w the reraiser
hand 1 is okay if you know he's a squeezer. Other than that you are practically barfing chips at them and it looks liek you are on tilt.

Re: 5/10 6-max - dealing w the reraiser
who is villain?

Re: 5/10 6-max - dealing w the reraiser
Hand 2 is terrible for the reasons mentioned by yves. Hand 3 kinda sucks too.

Re: 5/10 6-max - dealing w the reraiser
Hand 1 was a known squeezer. I usually don't 4-bet bluff, because I don't like 4-betting my big hands - but the presence of the button in the middle changes that.
I thought hand 2 was the most +EV. The whole point of this is that villain is a light reraiser/squeezer. I fully expect that he would continuation bet with nothing a fair bit of the time. He has air here quite often. Secondly, i've played my hand like a set and I think I have fold equity on AA/AK, no? This guy can get away from those hands if he thinks that he's beat. Seriously, if you're villain w AK how do you call this? What are you beating? I haven't previously been seen to be out of line postflop. Have I been playing too much full ring? How often does he call w AK? AA? What part of hand 3 sucks? I knew that he was raising light and would continuation bet at almost any flop that he missed - therefore I called preflop w a speculative hand with the intention of stealing the pot from him on any non-dangerous flop. Cesaro - i'd rather not divulge screennames |
Re: 5/10 6-max - dealing w the reraiser
hand 3 you are needlessly and recklessly playing for your stack and you have no outs when called.
This reminds me of my buddy list which features a lot of lagfish. One of my favourite things about many of them is that they will pick random times to bluff and donk off their whole stack to me when I actually have a hand. Sure, sometimes I have king hi and I fold to their aggression.... but it only takes one [censored] up on their part for me to get it all back and then some. |
Re: 5/10 6-max - dealing w the reraiser
Well, i've only put in half my stack, and I am definitely not putting in another penny if called. Of course I have no outs - it is a bluff plain and simple. I am investing $420 to win the $350 pot - I am doing this because I think most of his wide reraising range will be unable to call.

Secondly, i've played my hand like a set and I think I have fold equity on AA/AK, no? [/ QUOTE ] Trying to get people to fold TPTK or overpairs in re-raised pots is not prudent. [ QUOTE ] Seriously, if you're villain w AK how do you call this? What are you beating? [/ QUOTE ] Hmm...you could be bluffing, overplaying KQ-KJ or any pocket pair where you figure "if he's got a king, i get stacked but the rest of the time i'll pick up his c-bet and just take the pot down right there." Honestly, you'd have to be insanely tight for me to fold AK here and it doesn't sound like you are. |

Hmm...you could be bluffing [/ QUOTE ] Possible, but when you call someone who hasn't been out of line simply because they might be bluffing, that's a pretty good sign that it's a bad call. [ QUOTE ] overplaying KQ-KJ [/ QUOTE ] I, or any decent player for that matter, never have those hands in this spot. Anyways, I figure he has a real hand (JJ+, AK, AQ) about half the time, and he is simply squeezing the other half the time. I think this guy continues on the flop with most of his botched squeezes, as I have seen him do before. If we can get him to fold all squeezes, AQ, JJ, 70% of QQ, and 30% of AK/AA, then this move is definitely +EV. Obviously I disagree with the earlier comment that he won't lead with AQo/junk into a K-high flop 3-ways. |

Secondly, i've played my hand like a set and I think I have fold equity on AA/AK, no? [/ QUOTE ] No. And I don't think you played it like a set. Most players would milk a set, rather than push on that bone dry flop. Just as most players will insta-call your push with AA/AK there getting 2-1. Maybe you got him to fold JJ or something, though, but it's an overall bad play. |
Re: 5/10 6-max - dealing w the reraiser
this is pointless, you understand that? you can't ask "is this an ok way to play KTo?". dig up that old shania post from sredni whatshisname and you'll get my point. i'm guessing someone can link it...

Seriously, if you're villain w AK how do you call this? What are you beating? [/ QUOTE ] lolol. umm, 88? i actually didn't mind hand 2 if he is repopping you a ton since you might occasionally fold out 99-QQ and you often have the best hand. but thinking he might fold AK is just wowsers. |
