Re: Peyton Manning?
Yes, Manning is way better than Brady.
|
Re: Peyton Manning?
yeah, unfortunately. This game has been sweet and then the pick gets overturned and the vile colts score. I was so thrilled when manning sent the punt team off. That was terrible. I was hoping he would blow it after doing that, no such luck tho. Now they may win. I hope not. Feh.

Even if Indy wins, it'll be because of the officials, not because of Manning. That guy's a choad and a choker.

Any idiots out there still think hes a better quarterback than Tom Brady? [/ QUOTE ] Absolutely. Manning got hit in the back repeatedly, and his defense couldn't stop the run when they knew it was coming. Mostly, though, Pittsburgh just played a great defensive game. |
Re: Peyton Manning?
Isn't it Manning's job somewhat to stop the pass rush? Shouldn't he be reading the defenses, making audibles, and hitting the appropriate hot routes? Manning didn't slow down the rush at all.
|
Re: Peyton Manning?
it is, but most of the time the offensive line just absolutely collapsed.

Cody [/ QUOTE ] No. We only piss on his performaces in games where he gets knocked out of the playoffs. That's the whole point. He's All-Universe until it really matters, and be it against the Patriots, or at home in the 2nd round off a bye (this is the 2nd time he's blown one of *those*), he's all-scrub when the pressure is really on the line. It's not that we aren't willing to give him credit for rocking in Week 6. It's just that we know what's waiting around the corner when things start to get hot and heavy. |

Yes, Manning is way better than Brady. [/ QUOTE ] I assume this is scarcasm but I'll respond as if it's not, I don't think he's "way better", he's just a different type of QB. Brady is the best in the league at exicuting the gameplan, coach sends in the plays, Brady runs them, touchdown. Mannings strength is his intellegence, he's able to read better and adapt better then Brady. Also Brady has had better teams around him in the clutch, so he gets the rep of being a clutch QB. Niether of them is really any better then the other at being "clutch", it's a 22 person game and they are but one player. Cody |

All of their recent elimination games were winnable if he and he alone has an average game. That includes the D, the O-Line, the WR's and the RB. Change one variable, that being Manning's performance, and they win ALL of those games. If they lose by 30, your argument that it's everyone's fault has merit. But the fact remains that relative to his typical high standard, he has VASTLY underperformed when it mattered most. For well over a decade now. |

Brady had a better-than-average team around him when he won his first superbowl against St. Louis. This year, Peyton's team was the best in the NFL until they played their first football game. Plus, Manning had multiple opportunities to lead his team down the field near the end of the game, but he was too scared to even throw the ball -- thus the huge number of sacks. |

I think that's the point, place blame where it belongs. Coach Dungy, Manning, the O-line, the Defense, all had reason to share in the blame for thier loss. It isn't just Manning. Cody |

The 9/18 for 100 yards in the first half, where the game was largely decided? The two picks that somehow the refs didn't see fit to give Pitt? Or the garbage yards that he got when Pitt was already up by 3 scores? Note how once it got to the "winnable" stage, suddenly he couldn't move the team as efficiently any longer. Denver couldn't score w/o getting the ball inside the 20, NE couldn't hold on to it, Indy could protect their QB, and Bettis manages to nearly fumble away the game. can't anyone put a game away anymore? and the officating has been worse than any of the players. geez, this is a pathetic weekend. |

On the one touchdown drive he threw what was maybe a pick maybe not. Either way it was bad. So he did a little bit late. Whatever. He is mr. multiple MVP and overruled the coach. If you do that you better win. He didn't. |

Brady is the best QB in the league. I don't think there's much of an argument. And I'm a Patriots hater.

If you want to believe that Manning made no effort to move the team in the last two drives, where they scored and missed the FG, then there is little to talk about. Manning did his best, and at least in those two series moved the team well, against the Steelers Cover 38 no less. If you want to talk about the teams call not to run on the last few plays before the FG attempt, well...good point. Cody |
Re: Peyton Manning?
Manning was terrified of looking like a goat on the drive before Bettis fumbled at the goal line. He was sacked twice in a row and almost got a safety. I've never seen a QB more scared of looking like a goat in my life. A non-pussy QB would have thrown the ball in an attempt to move his team down the field rather than almost get sacked for a safety.
Manning knew he wouldn't be a goat if he didn't throw the ball, but Indy will never win a big game that way either. Brady, as a true leader, would have never taken those sacks. |

However, no quarterback can be considered great if he takes two sacks on (what should have been) his team's final drive with a chance to win. And you can't blame Manning's sack on Dungy either. Peyton had essentially taken over coaching at that point in the game, so Manning should have called for a quick out or something that would avoid a sack, rather than almost getting sacked for a safety. |

Re: Peyton Manning?
He's always been on a team where he has to do very good in order for his team to win. So naturally, when he doesn't do awesome, its very difficult for his team to win, simple as that. Did Elway all of a sudden learn how to not choke, or did his team just get better?
