Recent celebrity sightings
 

Three weeks ago I'm walking to get a haircut. I'm on Lexington Ave, waiting at the light on 72nd (a two way street) and I notice the man next to me is Mike Wallace, wearing a sportcoat and gray flannel slacks. He looks trim and fit, but his hair is more white than I've noticed on TV. The light turns and I continue the two blocks to the barbershop, a place that, incidently, has pictures of it's regulars on the walls, one of whom is Mr. Wallace. I get my haircut and as I'm leaving, I walk past him getting a haircut and a manicure.

Two weeks ago at a noodle place in the East Village I notice Martha Stewart with two middle aged British men (I believe the French call it menage-a-trois?) sipping sake. She's big, like 5-11 with shoulders like a linebacker. She could kick the crap out of Diablo in a fair fight.

Yesterday, eating ribs at Blue Smoke (St. Louis style ribs were pretty good, pink from the smoke and tasted good, with just a little sauce that wasn't cloying), megantw said, "That woman over there looks like a cross between Andi (friend with a big mouth) and Julia Roberts." I look over. I say, "I think it is Julia Roberts." We stare. We disagree. We think she isn't. We think she is. Turns out she is. She looks much worse in person. Too thin, small, too much hair, oversized mouth. Oh well. The ribs were good.

I already posted it in the Lost thread, but on Saturday I saw Libby wearing a wifebeater and blue hot-pants at Target.

Mandy Moore apparently lives near me because she jogged in front of my car while I was at a stop sign a couple weeks ago.

Not my own sighting, but my dad was at a club the other night and sat in a booth with the Arch Bishop Don Magic Juan and got me his autograph.

I'm at a tasting this weekend when I ran into a guy I know from many years ago. He was a nightclub doorman and host of a cabaret show, and he is also an actor who was one of the thieves in The Thomas Crown Affair. When the Soprano's first hit the air I looked for him each week because he shares the same name as Uncle Junior, but it wasn't him. Years later Dominic is a lot older now, he has lost his hair and he is mostly gray. At the table he was talking about all the fans of his father when I finally realized for the first time that Dominic is the son of Dominic Chianese, aka mob boss Johny Ola himself.

Went to Disneyland this weekend with family, (was upset I was probably not gonna have a chance to watch the UFC pay-per-view saturday night), but on Sunday morning as my group is leaving the Buzz Lightyear ride, my wife looks over and says, "isn't that Matt Hughes?". I look over and see Matt Hughes and his family, along with Chuck Liddell and his family cruising out of the ride right behind us. They had a Disney rep leading them around. We later saw them at the California Adventure park. Few people seemed to notice who they were.

I see Chuck Liddell quite often at bars around here since he is from Fresno. He was with that fighter from Brooklyn (drawing a blank on his name) a few weeks ago. It is amazing how there are some people who will try to start [censored] with these guys. That is about the only truly famous person I see here.

...Arnold Scharzenegger and Maris Shriver strolled by the Wynn Poker Room while I was playing on the rail along with 20 Secret Service type guys

JBB and I saw Vince Young, Mario Williams, Reggie Bush, D'Brickashaw Fergusen, Vernon Davis, Brandon Jacobs, Amani Toomer, The Schwab and Herold Reynolds at an ESPN NFL draft party about a month ago. I was pretty wasted and I talked to most of them, including an in depth discussion with Fergusen about coming to the Jets. I also accosted Harold Reynolds.

If it makes you feel better I'm pretty sure we didn't actually get to talk to him. Each of the draft guys had their own booth w/ friends and girls and stuff and his was the only one that was roped off.

Just worked with Mark Ruffalo and Lauren Ambrose. Saw Heath Ledger at the opening with some chick (who ever he is dating or married to). I also worked with the guy who played Brooks in the Shawshank Redemption (Jim Whitmore).

Yup, she's very normal. I go to a Seder with her every year (same family as the Bar Mitvah). She always has her boyfriend and a gay couple with her and my cousin calls them "The Charge of the Light Brigade".

I saw A-Rod the other day walking around Park and 55th. He was arguing with his wife, but not in a bad way - they were just having a heated discussion. Also, Jimmy Fallon was at a birthday party I was at in Midtown a couple weeks ago.

My greatest sighting in NYC actually got pretty interactive. About 3 years ago I was leaving Pastis after having a couple drinks with my date and another couple. So we start walking up the block when we noticed another group of people kind of entered our general space. All of a sudden I look up and it's a completely smashed Jim Belushi plus Dan Akroyd and Donna Dixon (who were not drunk). Then, annoyingly, my date starts yelling "Oh it's Jim Belushi! Jim Belushi! OMG etc.....

Belush looks up at me and then her (sort of in a drunken, disheveled way) and immediately tackles my date and gets her in a pseudo-headlock. The next thing I know they are rolling around on the ground sort of wrestling. Then he's got her in a mini-bear hug and continues to roll around on the sidewalk with her - I think he even got in a "noogie" or tow. She's laughing uncontrollably all the while.

Meanwhile, Akroyd just shakes his head and looks on disapprovingly. I say something to him like "this happen often?" and he kinda smiles - we're all kind of stunned about what's going on in general. His wife Donna looked pretty hot though I have to say.

Anyway, eventually Belushi and my date stopped wrestling and then they took off, but we were all pretty much in stunned disbelief at that point....

Last time I went to Vegas we saw Johnny Chan walking out of the Wynne in the middle of the day. Then on the way home, we had a connection in Washington DC on our redeye, and I'm dead beat at 5:30 am in the terminal at Dulles, and who comes plodding past but Chris Fergusson, dragging one of those rolling suitcases. It was really kind of strange to see a poker pro not in Vegas but in DC.

He glanced up and he saw me recognize him. Got this look like "Oh, no, not another one." He looked really kind of beat. I just gave him a nod. He gave me a kind of wry smile, releived to be left alone, I think.

Celebrities must get it [censored] consantly from every yahoo that recognizes them from TV.

Last week I was at a fundraiser and ended up riding the elevator with Joyce DeWitt from Three's Company. Nice lady, still looks exactly like she did in the show. Has she been in anything since then?

This was not last weekend, I saw Steffi and Andre at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. Steffi has some great legs, but her nose is a bit big.

I work in the same building as Howard Stern and the rest of Sirius radio so I see a lot of celebs in the elevators/lobby. Day after his character was wacked in the sopranos I saw Joey G.

I see Sal, Richard, Jim Breuer regularly.

I saw the Clevleand Cavaliers at a funeral a couple weeks ago. I also got picked to be a bikini contest judge when I was 19 or 20 at a Planet Hollywoood, w/ Vin Diesel and his girlfriend. I had several drinks with them, but then I later heard a rumor that it wasnt really hiim but an impersonator, but that seems weird. I also get to go to a yearly dinner with a bunch of St. Louis Sports stars, last year it was Brett Hull, Orlando Pace (who is just a monster, biggest guy ever), and a couple other dudes.

Went to some party this weekend, random celebs there. Standouts were Rachel Nichols (wow) and Zooey Deschanel (surprisingly hot, I mean, I never really thought of her as that hot before).

Had dinner with Randy Newman and family, and this guy named Andre (who I guess is a reality star from Project Runway) - someone asked for his autograph at Nobu.
