What are you doing for memorial day parties/picnics?

On Sunday night I'm going to a friends house for a BBQ drunkfest, your ass ain't drivin' home, sleepover party. There will be 20-30 people there. Bring your own food to cook on the grill plus a dish to pass.

The host opened his pool last week and it's ready for the party. We will also be playing outdoor beer pong and flip cup.

Tonight I'm going to remove the oil from my turkey deep fryer and clean it out. The set-up will be used for my dish to pass which will be a big ass pot of salt potatoes.

The next morning we're cooking breakfast and heading home so everyone can do their family picnics and such.

What's your memorial day party plans.

Sunday I am having friends over for a cookout. If a bunch of people come we'll be playing beer pong/flip cup. If it's just a few of use we'll just be hanging out listening to music eating some grilled food. I gotta head to the butcher: Dom's Sausage Co. in Medford. So [censored] good. I'll be drinking probably at 10 a.m. until whenever the hell I fall asleep. Good times.

Cookout here at work in a couple hours, later tonight going up to the weekend spot in Michigan for the first time this year. Also the first time for my 4 month old son. Family will be up there, plus plenty of quiet country roads to get one or two 40-50 mile bike rides in. Also swimming. (Triathlon training) Can't wait. Tonight - Cutting down five small/medium pines (8in diam)
Tomorrow am - golf; afternoon - renting wood chipper, using as directed; pm cookout at friends
Sunday - hopefully planting 15 4ft arborvitae where those pines were. Might also mow...
Monday - Staining the deck, washing windows.

Yeah, long weekends rock!

Going to a German club bier picnic on Sunday. $5 to get in, giant wooden barrels of imported bier. Should be fun.

Thinking about having a BBQ on Monday. Just need to figure out a menu. I try to do something different than the ordinary burgers/dogs/salads.

#1 wooden barreled beer - Do they chill it? How?
#2 grilling dilema - see the recent split lobster discussion - I do split tails and whole claws and discard the yuckies -baste with basil butter - meat side down first for 5 minutes then shell side down for 3-4.

I am going to be pretty busy with work and this might be the first time in my life I did not go down the shore. I will probably have to go down just for a day at least.

Memorial Day weekend means one thing and one thing only in this household - the Indy 500, our biggest sporting event of the year.

I went to the Indy 500 in 1998.

Worst sporting event I've ever been to.

Horrible.

Never watched it on tv. Hope you enjoy it.

I hear the same from others who have seen it live. Much better to watch it on TV. (Coverage last year sucked though, with all the Danica hype.)

No, not as serious as a marriage proposal but it could've led to that & I'm a long term person. I believe every problem has a solution especially when it comes to 2 people that care about each other. I guess the caring & working it out was more 1 sided than I'd let my heart believe. I've been told things could change but I don't know how that could happen. I think this is a train wreck with me as the conductor & my heart won't let me bail.
Yeah, I'll remember this Memorial day. Hope ya'lls weekend turns out better than mine.

Going for a nice 1/4 mile swim in Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis. Water temp should be just shy of 60F.

It'll be fun if I don't die.
