Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
I think most of you know have known that I have been less than thrilled with the direction of MTT. We are getting a LOT of new posters here that are posting all sorts of sweat threads and official threads and it is making moderation a real chore. I had mentioned this before and when logging into the mod forum I see that the very subject got brought up again. I have requested that the "Jurollo Events" forum be rolled into a "Sweat / Official Threads" forum come mid June. I will however, ask you, the forum what kind of support there is for this. If there isnt sufficient interest or it will heavily detract from MTT traffic then I will come up with something else, which could be a complete ban on official threads. Bottom line is some of the most respected posters are getting weary at how muddled the waters have become here and how hard strat threads are becoming to find. I think we have a great community here but it is becoming too much of a completely offtopic area with little to no strategy and I take some blame for this in my moderation technique over the past year. Changes are going to be coming either way but please answer the questions below. Also, in the future, if any posters are having problems with how cluttered things are getting here I urge you to PM, lloyd, myself or ZBT as we have immediate control over this forum, rather than rumbling and grumbling to other mods about your dislike for the clutter.

I'm going to miss Ajunglen.

Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
I voted. Id love to see more strategy. Because lets face it more strategy leads to more final table sweat threads.

Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
I think the answers to #3 are skewed big time from reality in that many people would spend WAY less time in MTT if we lose everything but strat which is why I am hesitant about implementation of this.

Why not just try it? If it doesn't work, switch it back.

Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
You dont want to wait until June 1st to try this? The MTT Challenge thing could be an outlier on this idea.
|
Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
I would like to wait till June, however, I think the MTT Team Challenge and Sweat threads are basically one in the same. I could pin threads too for that.

Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
erm, dont you mean a Rizen forum
|
Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
j,
yeah, whatever. i dont really care either way, but whatever makes the peoples happy. |
Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
I like the sweat and official threads but I also like the idea of separating them. I would visit both forums.

Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
As one of the MTT newbs who's made a sweat thread and not much else, I have an idea.
IIRC, you recently instituted a rule change that prohibited us from making two FT sweat threads per day on multi-table SNG's. If someone FT's one of those and there's already a thread devoted to it, then they're supposed to bump that thread with their sweat request. Well, how about if we institute that rule for all FT sweat threads? If you're the first person to FT a tourney on, say, Party, you create a thread called "PARTY SWEAT THREAD MM/DD/YY" and everyone else who FT's at Party that day has to post to that thread. Ditto for the other major sites, let's say Stars and Full Tilt, and then the rest of them can be lumped into a miscellaneous thread. I like sweat threads. I want to see the good players here in this forum at their FT's so I can emulate them, and I also want them in my corner the next time I'm in the big money. I don't want to have to use a new forum just to look up sweat threads. If it's clutter you're concerned about, I'd suggest a moratorium on sweat threads if the buy-in is less than $20 (not including rebuys), or a moratorium on "official" threads unless the prize pool is at least $100K. I think there can be a split between online MTT's and all B&M MTT's. The difference between the necessary strategies is so great that I think we can carve out two separate forums for them. Or, *gulp*, we can separate hand analysis threads and general strategy threads. But don't split off sweat threads. Please. |

Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
They still will be there, just in a different forum.
PLEASE SPLIT. THIS FORUM HAS GOTTEN SO MUCH WORSE. |
Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
I would prefer there be a sweat forum where I can notify everyone of my making it to the final table of a $4.00 180 player sit n go, instead of everyone having to wade through a bunch of strategy posts to find out if I made it.

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, because I'm sure when someone finals the $1M, he wants to fight the space with random newbie who managed to FT a 18 man $3 turbo SnG. [ QUOTE ] I like sweat threads. [/ QUOTE ] Me too. But they distract too much, and it spills over into the other threads. 'Serious' threads is hard to maintain at a 'serious' status when people are in a not so serious mind-set. Just look at the number of O/T posts we get in MTT nowadays. I think the blame can be put on sweat threads and the Jurollo forum. But as I said, I like both the Jurollo forum and the sweat threads as they're a great way of creating and maintaining a 2p2 culture, but sadly; today that's at the expense of the actual usefulness of the MTT forum. [ QUOTE ] But don't split off sweat threads. Please. [/ QUOTE ] If you really like the sweat threads, and think they're the most important part of MTT; wouldn't you want it split off so you could browse them on a regular basis; and sometimes just visit the 'real' MTT forum to see the strategy posts there. |
Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
I dont see a connection between the OT posts and my forum, at all. It just cut down on the clutter from the May Challenge. Sweat threads and official threads are one beast, O/T threads are another (one I can mostly deal with)

Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
please split. A forum where someone looking for strategy has to wade through all these sweet/random threads isn't very condusive to discussion where as one purely for strategy is. Additionally i dont think clicking a button on the side bar will deter too many people from visting both forums.

Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
wait, wait, wait theres actually a strategy involved in MTTs? well if thats the case then why cant u just post it as a sticky or a faq at the top of the forum so then everyone would know what to do and not have to make posts asking for strategy?
|
Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
Yea I definetly support the split. It is very cluttered compared to STT.

I dont see a connection between the OT posts and my forum, at all. [/ QUOTE ] Perhaps there isn't one. I just think it lowers the threshold of what kind of threads are acceptable to post. And since we have basically the same people there as we have here; some spill-over is natural. But as you said, that has to do with O/T and I agree that you deal with them just great. And the real topic was sweat/offical threads. Sorry for lumping them together. |
Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
definately split, I have only been lurking/posting in the MTT forum for a few months now but even in that short amount of time I have noticed the mtt forum is becoming less strategy oriented. The fact that 2+2 is more strat. oriented than the other poker forums is the reason I visit here most often.

Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
A split would be great. I only enjoy sweat threads when I'm at work and I don't want to, you know, actually work. Without the sweat threads the strategy posts will be the main thing and that's what I enjoy most and the primary reason the MTT forum is my 'home'.
|
Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
I don't think splitting's that important; people just need to post/respond to more hands.
|
Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
I cant speak for anyone else, but I would definitely visit this forum more if there werent sweat and other type of threads all over the place.
|
Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
FWIW, I love the community sense we got here and the sweat threads and OT stuff. There's no reason why I won't love that in a MTT-OT kinda forum. So yeah, a split is fine.
BTW - Only half kidding, I think we should issue some sort of rule that forces Rizen to start on strategy thread for every sweat thread he opens. |
Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
I'd be fine with a split. Obv I'd visit both frequently, still.
|
Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
Please make a real MTT strat forum.
|
Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
The more that I think about it, I want to say that I do love the sense of community here, but I think a lot of strategy discussion has stagnated or has become pretty elementary, not to mention the influx of new posters who jump in and post situations that are very results oriented w/o really getting down the basics first.
Something where more advanced strategy and theory is discussed as well as hands that are seriously challenging plays would be great. |

Re: Possible Forum Split - MTT regulars please read
A split is an excellent idea. The "Official/Sweat" threads are important to the sense of community here.

Yea I definetly support the split. It is very cluttered compared to STT. [/ QUOTE ] I'm really thinking that this might be sarcarsm.... I like sweat threads. I've only sweated a few times, but they seem to really make this place a community. Guys in MTT, for the most part, seem to get behind and root for other guys. This is the big difference between here and STT. STT seems to be everyone for themselves and everybody wants without giving anything in return. Have a sweat, event, and misc. forum, and keep the strategy forum. Oh, and like some posters already mentioned... call it the Rizen forum. |
