PokerStars hand # 4.97B milestone thread

Same routine as before.

I'll post my current best estimate:

10:30 pm ET

I'll update this at 8:30 pm ET (or maybe earlier if it looks like things are going very fast).

Get together 45 to 60 minutes prior.

AIM works great. See you later.

Have you been able to get many tables going that consistently fold around?

What is the EV/table for this bonus? Like $.25??

Earlier, 6 of us were on 8 tables and had perfect, consistent folding going. Worked really well. If I'm around here later tonight when the next milestone approaches, I will post here and organize another group to do 8-table folding.

I'm guessing there's about 250-300 active tables during bonus time. With 6 people at the table, 5 get 2k, 1 gets 5k. 15k/6 people is 2.5k per person.

You have a 1/250 to 1/300 chance of getting it, which is $8-10 per table, I would assume by posting and folding, increase your chances at least 2x, so the EV should be much higher, eh?

Is there something wrong with my calculations?

There's currently over 9,000 active tables. Assuming half are play money and tourneys, that still leaves 4k+

I think your table calculation is off by a factor of 10. 9k active tables right now, even if 2/3rds are tourney/play money, thats still 3k tables.

Dennisa 05-17-2006 07:15 PM

Re: PokerStars hand # 4.97B milestone thread

OK lets take 3K tables. Its worth about a buck per table at 6 max since the winner of the hand gets 5K. At 8 tables its now worth 8 bucks and by folding you increase your chance by 2.5 times so around 15-20 bucks per go around. Stars is doing this 30 and I will probably participate around 20 of them so there is probaly a 1:7 to 1:9 chance of getting 2K or more during the promotion. My roll is less than 1K, I need to take hour breaks twice a day, so its not so bad.

YMMV, but then again, I am king idiot during the party spooky tickets promotion, I am just addicted to free money.

Re: PokerStars hand # 4.97B milestone thread

There are 9217 active tables right now, of these only about 1300 are cash ring games. This is much fewer than I expected.

The qustion is how many tables open up just before the milestone. I'll watch this next time.

Silent A 05-17-2006 07:31 PM

Re: PokerStars hand # 4.97B milestone thread

BTW, hands are moving a bit slow right now. Looks like the next milestone will be closer to 11:00 pm ET.

I'll post my final estimate between 8:30 and 9:00 ET (it depends when I can get free from other duties).

There's also the bonus for vip status. Up to 120% for supernova.

I just play fast rather than manipulate the game. I have a vague recollection that Paradise had a clause prohibiting schemes like this - Are you sure its allowed?

Very raw assumption. STT/MTT/Play money cash/Play money tournaments account for at least 75%. There are only about 200-250 holdem tables open right now.

I'm also going to venture to say that there's an absolute maximum of 1.5k max tables, with our EV still around $2 per table if we were playing as slow as everyone else, but at least $6 per table since we're folding ridiculously fast.

8 tables of this for 20 minutes is roughly 150 hourly, and fine with me.

All approximations of course.

Re: PokerStars hand # 4.97B milestone thread

OK an early final prediction (forced by circumstance)

11:00 PM ET

We should start arranging tables aboyt 45 minutes prior.

Ideally, set up AIM chat rooms (or the like) and form groups of 6, 9, or 10.

I asked PokerStars support if it was OK to openly agree to fold to the blinds as a milestone hand approached. They told me that they did not have a problem with it.

The gist of it was that (a) they felt that it was vulnerable to 1 guy wrecking it - stealing blinds - and (b) wouldn't increase the odds very much.

Yep, PokerStars Game #4970000048: Hold'em Limit ($0.50/$1.00) - 2006/05/17 - 23:04:06 (ET)

I'm going to assume that's like 10 hands off or so, due to the high % of tournament and play tables.

Re: PokerStars hand # 4.97B milestone thread

Good try guys. Of course there was a misclick initially lol but pretty efficient folding. Waiting on silent to get his next prediction in now. 2+2 should be able to win at least one of these hands you'd think.

jack21221 05-17-2006 11:07 PM

Re: PokerStars hand # 4.97B milestone thread

Bah, I got stuck at about 3 tables where people wanted to play through their hands at .5/1 limit. They'd rather win that 3 dollar pot than play for 2-5k. Morons.

Re: PokerStars hand # 4.97B milestone thread

Technically speaking if they had a decent hand I think it would be higher EV for them to go ahead and play the hand.

I'm thinking these people are looking to make their 2K bonus by playing the hands while we all fold. +EV for them.

47 hands short of the milestone over here playing NL10.
