Monitor help

I have 285,000 party points, and I want to use them to buy a sweet monitor set-up for 8, 9, or 10-tabling sit n gooooos. I know very little about technology.

Options are:

--- 1 Dell 24-inch wide-screen LCD - 1920 x 1200 resolution. 250,000 party points. Can this be used as a TV as well?

--- 1 Sony 26-inch wide-screen LCD TV - 280,000 party points. Can this be used as a computer monitor?

--- 2 Dell 20.1-inch LCD monitors. This would be perfect, but they're [censored] wide-screen, not regular 1600x1200 squares. You think if I called party, I could get the non-widescreen model I wanted?

They also have a Sony 20-inch non-widescreen model, but it costs 175,000 points, so I'd only be able to buy one of them.

Thanks all.

Re: Monitor help

get the two 2001fps. they don't really take up that much more space on your desk than the 24".

Re: Monitor help

That's the thing. They offer the 2005s, which are wide-screen models. Two 2001s > Two wide-screens, I know. But I don't think I have the option of the 2001s.

Re: Monitor help

Get the sony monitor, combine it with your current monitor, multi table until you get the 60,000 points needed to get another Sony and then get that one. Should be like a couple of months tops 8 tabling.

Re: Monitor help

dont get the widescreens. Call party and ask about 2007fps. They may be putting 2007 fps on there soon. Dell just recently discontinued the 2001fps for the 2007fps.

Re: Monitor help

Does anyone have an opinion about how 9-tabling would look on the 24-inch widescreen? And if it can be used as a TV?

Re: Monitor help

i just bought a 42" widescreen plasma to use solely as a monitor so i could see more tables..

and for some reason, i cant fit more than 6 on it. i'm kinda pissed.

Rockymv 05-15-2006 08:14 PM

Re: Monitor help

you can barely 6-table on a 24".

Re: Monitor help

42 buddy, not 24.. it cant handle a high enough resolution or something.. i gotta figure out.. maybe a new video card..

there was a post a few days ago about somebody postin pics of their giant monitors..

i tried searchin but cant find it.

can somebody who puts 8 visible tables on at once message me or something so as to help me set this thing up right?

Re: Monitor help

Its because the resolution isnt very good. Its not about the size of the screen but the resolution of the screen. You need 1600X1200 to fit 4 tables almost perfectly so to add 2 or 5 tables you can imagine what resolution you need.

Is it an LCD tv? LCD tvs have significantly lower resolutions than computer screens and thus less tables open.

Its imposible. The tv doesnt support a big enough resolution. It will never happen.

Re: Monitor help

Television's just don't support very high resolutions. It is possible that you may be able to up the resolution by getting a new video card, but it likely won't be a greater resolution than available on a quality computer monitor.

Check your user manual for the max resolution of your TV, and then check your computer's settings to see what the current resolution is set to. If you dont have the user manual or it doesn't list the max resolution, try emailing or calling the company that made it they should accomodate the question.

[/ QUOTE ] They double as a computer monitor caue they can support like 1200X1000 or something in that range which alot of computers normally use as their res, but for poker you need such a higher resolution to fit the tables. I would look around and check out resolutions for whatever your buying.
