Atlantic City or Foxwood $20 -$40 Limit Holdem

Will be in the NY area for about six weeks. Will have some free time during weekdays? Where can I find limit holdem being played on weekday afternoons ($15-$30 to $20$40)

Will the games be any good?

The players at Foxwoods suck. The players in AC suck, but maybe a bit less consistently. But AC is closer.

Borgata had two going from afternoon until late night and the players are all very laggy...
hope that helps

20/40 at the Borg. It goes most of the time, and there will always be 10/20 games.

15/30 was spread at the Taj last time I was there, but take along plenty of penicillin and antiseptic if you plan on entering that nasty, funky casino.

I assume you know that AC is 2.5 hours from NYC. Foxwoods is a little further.

Taj and Borgata should both have 10-20 and 20-40. Borgata never spreads 15-30 hold'em, and the Taj rarely spreads it these days.

In AC, games get better during the summer, but weekday afternoons obviously aren't the best times to play.

Have you ever played Taj 20-40 on a Wednesday afternoon? Because it is flat out fantastic for whatever reason. The weekday regulars just aren't that good.

For the OP: I haven't played Foxwoods 20 in awhile so I can't really comment. The Taj 20-40 is consistently loose and wild action...lots of aggression preflop, moreloose calling afterward (but some light raising as well). Borgata 20 is good also, but more passive. Both games are very soft. I vote for AC because two rooms spread it and in general, there is just more going on there.

I find the games very passive for the most part, with only one or two laggy regulars depending on if a 40 game is going.

The games are better at Foxwoods I think but you'll have more fun in AC.

I like weekdays games a lot more then on weekends. If 40 game is going then 20 is most of the time very good. Also most of semi-pro types are comming down to AC on Fri-Sat but not on weekdays.

I don't play that high, so I can't help gamewise. I'd recommend AC if you're in NYC proper or in Jersey, as it's significantly closer. If you're on Long Island, it's prolly a wash distancewise, so I'd go with AC for better game selection. If you're in Westchester, Foxwoods is probably easier to drive to.

I think this is the key point. And the marginal difference between the game quality isn't all that huge (at least in my limited AC experience and frequent Woods experience).

Conventional wisdom used to say the that 20 games in AC were softer than at Foxwoods. I'm not sure about weekday afternoons.
