Some of the WPEX publicity you\'ve been hoping for
 

Picked up the latest issue of CardPlayer down in Tunica tonight.
It features the 'revolutionary rake-free site' WSEX (and the guy responsible for it) on the cover and has a nice long story and interview inside.


It also features a long story on the PPM cruise and Mike Schneider's $1-million victory (Schneids on 2+2 for those who live in a cave).


I know lots of people don't even bother with the magazine. But this might be an issue worth picking up.

no idea when they change-over to the latest issue on their internet site.

If you want a copy of the magazine I have occasionally seen it at Borders or Barnes & Noble before. Not in every store...but it's around.

This will have an impact for sure.If the numbers hit around the 2500-3000, this place will take off.

I see it as a good thing that not many people tried it out innitially as WPEX did have some software issues. Now they are sorted out the real BUZZ to this site will certainly send shock waves to the industry. The delay may have been worth it.

That's a good policy when you're dealing with 24/7 online apps. Release it, maintain a small user base of dedicated users. Announce it, let the user base grow to see how your system scales. Advertise it, let the masses come. Profit.

I wonder how many fish will "save up" the rakeback every week to wager in the sportsbook. Although we don't get a shot at that money they will play more to "gain" that money.

I haven't signed up yet, I'm a selfish bastard who is waiting for momentum.

Yea, I grabbed this magazine at Borg over the weekend. The WPEX article is very interesting and the interview with the founder of WSEX concerning the anti-gaming legislation is well written. The Schneids article is fun. Actually, Card Player seems to have gotten better recently, including some of the strategy articles - just a better read overall (obviously some of it is still crap).

PH's articles are pretty in depth. i love to hear about the time he played a charity tournament with celebrities.

I know that the Walmart in Germantown/Bartlett carries CardPlayer, I'm not sure if all Wallys nationwide carry it fwiw.

The article also covers the WTO case Antigua brought against the U.S. regarding restraint of trade in online gaming. The WTO ruled in favor of the Antiguans (who were filing in part at the behest of WSEX).

Apparently the owners of WSEX are all under indictment in the U.S. One who went back to fight the charges got an 18 month stint at Club Fed.

The Card Player article also lends a lot of credibility to those of us who've been openly singing the praises of WPX to our B & M regulars. Up until now I have a 0% recognition rate when asking others if they've heard of WPX. The CP article will help that.

They have a ad on Howard Stern's Sirius show too. I dont think they talk about rake free poker, but any publicity is good right?

We had a different thread (maybe about the SNG bots) where some guy said he played a $22 SNG on Party with some obnoxious, drunk guy who kept saying he was "MICROBOB FROM 2+2!!!" or something like that.

The poster actually thought it was me.


I have never done this on any site but it sounds like it could be the same guy doing this on WPEX which i find kind of amusing.
but also kind of annoying since some people (including the guy who brought it up in this thread too) actually think it IS me.


I would be interested in knowing his handle.

PM me if you feel more comfortable doing that (maybe you'll it will end up being my real WPEX handle....and then I'll have to go see a shrink because I'm having these weird episodes that I don't even remember).

The guy who mentioned the Party SNG (he said he thinks he played in Feb and that he really thought it was me) said that whoever it was said, "microbob is in the house!"


So it seems very likely that this is the same guy that pretended to be me on Party as well.

okay, now this is getting weird.


I've got 2 different names now from 2 different PM's.

One of them is from a guy who claimed to be the one doing it and offering a very nice apology.
He told me his handle...and it's not the same as the one Ineedaride told me.


There's a weird microbob conspiracy going on here!!!!

All - this is indeed the same person that has now sent me 2 PM's very profusely apologizing for doing this. I told him not to worry about it and that it was more amusing than disturbing.

He seems legitimately embarassed by his actions.

I'm not posting his WPEX handle because I don't think that's very fair to him.

But he is telling me a different WPEX handle than the one Ineedaride says he is 99% sure about.

So I'm still confused about whether this really is the guy, or if there can possibly be 2 people doing this, or what.
