2006 Goals
I've seen these in some of the other forums but we don't seem to have one yet so here it is...
|
Re: 2006 Goals
-Be able to correctly answer all the hand quizzes in SSHE in random order the first time w/o peeking.
-Stop calling GSSD w/o odds on the flop. -Improve my turn and river play. -Be one of the posters on this forum that when you read my reply you know it's based on sound principles. -Beating 3/6 consistently. |
Re: 2006 Goals
- Start using rakeback (havent bothered with my limits so far)
- Start clearing bonuses (too lazy for this atm) - Start making serious cash from Poker. - Average 2k hands each day for the whole year. This is mainly because 2k hands a year at 0,5/1 or 1/2 limits with 25% rakeback generates a somewhat nice amount - Play more MTT tournaments and win one. - Qualify for a big live tournament or at least play in one |
Re: 2006 Goals
I'd like to be playing 2/4 by the end of the year.
Continue to play at least 2 tables at once for at least an hour a day (120 hands) everyday. Maybe more hours when I stay home from work with a cold. |

Re: 2006 Goals
So many aspirations for the coming year, but in no particular order I hope that I manage to achieve at least some of these:
1. Continue to read/study various poker books. This includes learning how to play 7 Card Stud and some of the other poker games, hopefully at least reasonably well. 2. Get that new computer, so my screens dont overlap when multitabling. 3. Make enough $$$ playing to pay for that new computer! 4. Learn basic blackjack theory (and count) before being taken to the casino to play by a friend. 5. Not getting thrown out of the casino. 6. Getting a date with that [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] girl I just met. Merry Xmas everyone. |
Re: 2006 Goals
I'd just like to be >0BB/100 at some level like 2/4 at maybe 100K hands. I also have this secret desire to satellite my butt into the wsop lol, but it's just a stoner pipedream.
|
Re: 2006 Goals
I want to be playing 5/10 by the end of 2006.
Unrealistic, maybe. But that's my goal nonetheless. |
Re: 2006 Goals
I want a small family in Peru to starve on account of my winnings next year.

Re: 2006 Goals
2005 Results
Tracked hands: 151,562 Untracked hands: ~ 25,000-35,000 (maybe more) Tracked Profit: + $5,163 2006 Goals = 300,000 hands. + $50,000. Finally run good for a change. Happy Holidays guys and good luck hitting those goals! Brad |
Re: 2006 Goals
I'm still feeling fairly modest. I really only have one goal:
Beat a limit with no "." in it. |

Re: 2006 Goals
Party $50+5 NL SNGs. I hope to make the $109's my home sometime in the next few months though. I might play some mid-high LHE from time to time for good measure. It is time for me to take a more aggressive line at this game.

Re: 2006 Goals
I think that playing and beating at least 30/60 should be a reasonable and attainable goal.

Re: 2006 Goals
Play 100,000 hands of 2/4, 3/6 and higher.
-Currently playing 2/4 (little 1/2 to clear bonuses.) Get bankroll just for tournaments up to the $33 level. -Playing the 11's now. Single tables. Try to play one MTT tournament a week. And win one of those this year. -Don't play any now so I would like to do this one. And Merry Christmas. |
Re: 2006 Goals
Tie up loose ends on the casino side. Get from 2/4 to 15/30 LHE by March 15th. Get my passport and hopefully graduate. Learn a lot more about NLHE.
Edit: March 15th seems really close... maybe 2006 "dreams" would be a better title. |
Re: 2006 Goals
My goal this year is to think about good goal for the next year.
|
Re: 2006 Goals
A goal for the year seems way too far ahead. I guess i just want to play good poker, and keep learning.
Oh, and stay active at these forums. I registered this account when i was just starting the .05/.10 games at stars, and 4 months later i'm close to moving up to $1/2 at party. thanks everyone. |
Re: 2006 Goals
1. Win consistently at 1/2.
2. Use Poker Tracker/GaneTime+ correctly. 3. Play more MTT's |
Re: 2006 Goals
I love how the girls come last, lol

Re: 2006 Goals
If I 10x my bankroll by the end of Summer, decide if I'm going to do a PhD or poker for the next four years after that.

Re: 2006 Goals
- Stop Smoking
- 60K+ hands (estimates: 10K-.25/.50, 20K-.50/1, 15K-.50/1*6max*, 15K-1/2) - 10X my bankroll cashing out half of that to cover old "poker tuition" - Reread a lot of what I've read and learn how to aply concepts better. - Post more hands and more responses to hands. - Get better at NL tourneys, MTT's (but not waste as much of my BR on them) - Whore more boniii - Find a girl - Maybe be playing 2/4 - Help "HouseCalls" with his goals - Stop Smoking |
Re: 2006 Goals
1. Read/contribute to 2+2 more
2. Increase my 0.50/1 limit winrate (currently 1.36 BB/hr), goal 4.0 3. Get out of the red in 1/2 limit, and get a positive winrate, goal 2.0 4. Improve my post-flop play. 5. Play more NL cash games. 6. Play more MTTs |
Re: 2006 Goals
Coming into 2005 my goals were:
1)Deposit $100, start at .25/.50, and build my way up to 2/4 by the end of the year 2)Become a frequent contributor to these forums I had mixed/depressing results. Looking at my registeration date and post count, I didn't really achieve #2. So that's one thing to build upon in 2006. Regarding my first goal, I built my BR up all the way to $2500. I dabbled in some 3/6 but couldn't beat it so I stayed mainly at 2/4 and things were good. Then December 3 rolls around, and I have my office Xmas party. I got trashed. I came home at 3am. I played Party Blackjack. I lost everything (which makes reading Diablo and everyone elses Party BJ posts in the Brag forum all the more frustrating...jk). I woke up sick to my stomach the next morning, not from the booze, but from losing my entire bankroll. I hate blackjack. I don't know what I was thinking. I worked hard to get it up there. And now I have to do it all over again. It was an expensive lesson but Jesus Christ I can promise you I won't be drinking and gambling again in this lifetime. With that in mind, goals for 2006: 1)Read one new poker book a month 2)Play 500 hands daily 3)Post at least 5 times daily on 2+2 4)Work my way back up to, and past, 3/6 and into 5/10 5)To not drink while gambling As an addendum, I took a hiatus from poker after my drunken BJ debacle because I was furious with myself. I finally got my mind right and today I deposited money for the first time since early December. I played 211 hands of .50/1.00 on Party and booked a solid win. It felt good to be back, I really missed it alot. |
Re: 2006 Goals
1. Read/reread a different poker book every month. Anyone wanna suggest a 12-month schedule for me? I'm in 1/2 right now, but *should be playing 2/4 in a couple of weeks. Probably start January with SSHE then move on to other classics. I have a library containing most of the obvious books. I've read GSIHE, SSHE, TOP, HEPFAP, WLLHE, HOH vol 1&2, ITHE, TPFAP, Weight the Odds. I own but haven't yet read Improve your Poker and PotLimit and No Limit Poker. I wonder what a good progression through those books would be. And adding some others will definitely happen.
2. Comfortably playing 5/10 by the end of the year. 3. Play in some MTT and/or enter satellites that could lead to a big score. 4. Get an A in the last two courses for my degree. 5. Don't let 1-3 interfere with 4... 6. Continue with South Beach diet and lose 40 pounds. Lost 22 already in the last quarter of this year, so hopefully I'll keep it going... |
Re: 2006 Goals
OK my turn:
5k hands per month Review at least 50% of my hands on PT Post at least one hand per week Respond to at least 10 hands per week Be beating .25/.50 and .50/1 and be ready to move uo to limits with no decimal points Help Nomatilda with his goals |
Re: 2006 Goals
1. Learn to fold
2. Learn to C/R 3. Learn to bluff This should help my bankroll significantly |
Re: 2006 Goals
Nice thread - good to clarify these kind of things in the mind.
1. Post 2 hands per week, comment on 5. 2. Use this newfound expertise to move up to 2/4. 3. Consolidate at 2/4 and beat Absolute 2/4 for 1BB/100 over 20K hands. |
Re: 2006 Goals
My main goal is to move up.
I've been 4 tabling 1/2 since May and have continued b/c it's an easy way to make a few extra bucks, unfortunately spent most of 6K I made from playing and from bonuses. But managed recently to put together a $1700 bankroll that I will keep exclusively online and will try to build and move up with. No specific goals but basically want to move up and get to at 10/20 by the end of the year, will maintain at least a 300BB at the current limit I play, and take mini-shots (which I think Grunchcan described) with 100BB rolls at higher limit and at 6 max. That way I should never fall below my original $1700 and should be able to move up and play without fear of losing too much $$$. So I'm going to just jump in playing 2/4 and 1/2 6 max the next couple months, dropping back to 1/2 if I drop near $1200. |
Re: 2006 Goals
had a good 2005.
for 2006: I want to be playing 5/10 full time, and taking shots at 10/20. I want to play more live poker. Continue to contribute to 2+2. Make 20K, maybe more, but at least 20K. Pay my taxes for 2005. Continue to work on not tilting. Look into getting a coach. |

Re: 2006 Goals
I was looking back at a march 2005 goals thread I posted in, and I have met or exceeded all of them. I wanted to be comfortable at 1/2, comfortable at 6-max, and prove a solid winrate over a good sized sample. Done, done, and done.
So time for some new goals: 1: My current home/sweet spot is 1/2 and 2/4 6max. 6-max is definately the way to go, I doubt I'll EVER go back to full 10 handed ring games. Over the next year, I want to prove myself at 3/6 and 5/10 6-max games. I'm already taking shots at it, but I'm still subconsciously thinking in terms of dollars and not chips. It's the same every time you jump up a level, you need a while to adjust. 2: Since I am playing a little 3/6 and 5/10 here and there, I want to read and contribute to the SS forum more. Right now I just lurk, and I feel everyone there is kinda out of my league, so it makes me apprehensive about posting.. I don't wanna look like a fool, or give bad advice to the 'high rollers' in the SSHE forum.. I need to make the jump, it feels like I'm about to jump up limits. 3: Have the discipline to get up and leave a table if there's a bunch of TAG's playing there. I always think 'Im TAG too, worst case this should be an even game', etc.. When this happens and I stay, sometimes I win, sometimes I lose.. I get great satisfaction out of beating good players, but every time I lose, I kick myself for not leaving sooner. At the higher limits, this is gonna matter more than ever, so I need to really be aware of my enviroment, and make sure I put myself in the best possible situation. |

Re: 2006 Goals
1. post more. i've been playing since august (from .25/.50 to 40K hands so far at 1/2), and have been reading since then, but didn't start contributing til recently.
2. stop tilt-spewing and too-many-tables-spewing. both are killing my winrate. 3. know odds like the back of my hand. 4. up my aggression. i can push with the nuts just fine, but i need to stop fearing scary boards and others having the nuts when so often that is not the case. 5. continue to add position-dependent hands to my repertoire. 6. move up to and get comfortable with 3/6 full and start in on the 6-max game. 7. get better at games besides holdem (omaha is first on the list). 8. earmark some BR for a flat panel or two. purty... happy new year everyone -joanna |
Re: 2006 Goals
2005 was a g00t year for the Dog. Pulled out a big chunk of the roll and had a great trip to Vegas. I proposed, she said yes, can't beat that.
I still lurk here, as I'll play the occasional full table clearing bonuses, and when I hit a rough stretch of variance in the SH game. I'd like to be playing 10/20 short by this time next year, but for the freaking life of me I can't handle more than 2 6M tables at a time. Ugh. Good luck to you all, and if you see me at a full table, I'll be on your right. |
