Hi all,
I heard a lot about the Amarillo Slim's Grand Slam of poker but can't seem to find any information of this hi buy-in tournament anywhere.
I heard that Stu Ungar won it 3 times.
Anybody would have access or know the results of those tournaments which are rumored to be as big as the WSOP were back in the 80's.

Well, if you can find something, let us know; I've been looking too.
Ungar's wins were in 1983 (the first year), 1988, and 1989. I believe Hoyt Corkins won in 1990.

You can't find it because it doesn't exist anymore.

Wasn't he charged with being a paedophile? If so, I doubt any tournament promoter is going to want to use his name....

I've been told that Cloutier won it too.
Surely someone on this planet knows the results! I've heard that this tournament was almost as big as the WSOP, how come we can't find results nowhere?

It was a big deal, but hasn't been held for years. And yes, Slim was accused by a family member of molestation. I believe it was settled out of court. Thats why you don't see him on TV anymore.

Stuey won it in 1984. He was playing Ralph Morton heads up. The final hand was Ralph 99, and Stuey QQ. Ralph moved in and Stuey obliged him with a call.
I remember playing in a satellite with Stuey and Bettey Carey the day before the tournament.
The big side games were really something back then. Chip, Doyle, Jack Strauss, Eric Drache, Dewey Tomko, Stuey, Gabe Kaplan, Johnny Chan, Sarge Farris. Sarge Farris just poured money into the pot.
Slim's tournaments were the best I've ever been to.

PRestons tournament was the Super Bowl of Poker.
The Grand Slam is a Poker tournament that is still around
at the Larry Flynts Hustler CAsino.
