No truth as you worded the statement. If the President does not sign a bill into law within ten days after Congress recesses it becomes a pocket veto. It can not then be reconsidered in it's current form and designation and must begin the entire legislative process anew.
As to whether or not the President will sign the bill into law I believe is a no-brainer, yes he will. Now a little dose of politics for the Dems, if we had provided GW with a line item veto across the board he could have vetoed the Internet gambling portion of the bill and allowed the remainder to become law.
