The problem is that many women want to avoid confrontation or "hurting" the guy, so they never come right out and tell him that they don't want him to contact her anymore. The guy remains oblivious, until he finds out from other people that she's going around calling him a stalker due to his attempts to contact her. How many women think that this is a preferable state of affairs is beyond me.
