Default Urban Legend?

Yesterday I was doing a search of all things poker on Google and I stumbled accross something that concerned me a bit. There are several sites peddling information about how to see your oponents hole cards.

Now I have been playing for a while now, and my bankroll is 210% of what it was when I started, so I am not worried that I have been taken by someone cheating this way, but it does leave me a bit curious.

Is this just a scam to prey on a few people's greed (I truly hope that this is the real case) or is this actually something that exists out there in the wild?

Just looking for a little piece of mind.

If you had a crack worth millions, would you sell it to strangers for $50.

I think I remember reading from someone who actually bought it, and it DOES work.....if you can get all of your opponents to take down their firewalls, and have a direct p2p link with your computer. good luck with that.

That, or it turns out that what they're really advertising is "THE ABILITY TO SEE YOUR OPPONENTS' CARDS!!!"*

*(provided they went to showdown and you can read a hand history)

Very good point. It also goes without saying that the casinos can easily prevent this by only sending your computer what you need to see at any point in time, i.e. your hole cards, and only the board cards dealt so far. Then send you any cards shown down at the end of the hand. OK, so now I feel silly for asking.

Yeah, and I hear its pretty easy to steal over $1M in jewelry if the store leaves their doors unlocked, and the security system off. OK, I feel sufficiently reassured.

To prove a point, I once purchased, out of the back of a magazine, a course on how take make huge profits in a home-based mail-order business. I received a soft-cover book. The book advised running ads in the backs of magazines offering a course on how to make huge profits in a home-based mail-order business. The seller also offered me fantastic bulk discounts on purchasing additional copies of the book for resale.
