Looks good to me. What are you thinking you should have done differently?

Re: 3/6 TPTK Dillema
Are you 90%+ certain you are beat? If not, you have to make this river call. And as Songwind noted, I do not see how you play it differently w/o costing you more $ to see the showdown. Some hands, it sucks to be you (or me).

Re: 3/6 TPTK Dillema
any reads? Against an aggressive player I'd stick a raise somewhere.

Re: 3/6 TPTK Dillema
I'll often go for a check raise on the flop. If you get three bet you can call down for 1/2 bet cheaper and it puts more pressure on overcards.

Re: 3/6 TPTK Dillema
You played it fine.
The turn is a scary card. JT is a popular holding amongst fish for a raise, not to mention the fact your opponent made a straight. With a "brickier" card on the turn, I might be inclined to throw in a third bet. But not here, and folding isn't an option. Well played. |

Re: 3/6 TPTK Dillema
Id play this the same way. You can't really 3bet that turn with any certainty without a read on UTG and you certainly can't fold. So I think calling down is fine here.

Looks good to me. What are you thinking you should have done differently? [/ QUOTE ] Why do we not want to c/r the flop and lead the turn? We learn more about opponent's strength this way, and get more value if he folds the turn (e.g. if he has AQ unimproved at the turn). Of course, having reads helps, but I see little reason why opponent will not make a continuation bet on this flop with pretty much any two cards. I guess if our opponent is smart and see us take this line, he can really get us to hang ourselves if he has a set or overpair, but otherwise I like c/r + turn lead better unless someone tells me why not. EDIT: [censored], I just realized this is a multiway pot. Maybe ignore what I said above. Heads up I want to C/R 100% of the time, for value and for metagame. |

With a "brickier" card on the turn, I might be inclined to throw in a third bet. But not here, and folding isn't an option. Well played. [/ QUOTE ] Only if we have really reliable data on opponent that says he 1.) is generally aggressive postflop, and 2.) know he is fully capable of raising a draw here. In many cases we do not have enough data to satisfy 1 and 2, meaning we should be content to call down. Plus, calling down means the same number of bets going in on our part and his, and a guy that is aggro enough to semibluff raise the turn may well be aggro enough to also bluff bet a brick river. I guess what I'm saying is that the tradeoff involved with getting an extra bet in on the turn when he is on a draw (bet/3-bet) and getting capped (bet/3-bet/he caps... baaad) or missing a bluff bet by him on the river when he misses tends to favor the less aggressive approach when we don't know exactly what kind of player he is. |
