Joe Tall is in "The Well".
      #7201024 - 09/07/06 12:52 AM

Feel free to ask me anything. I will do my best to answer all the questions, granted, the serious questions will recieve the most attention.

Quote:

A stranger is being shown around a village that he has just become part of. He is shown a well and his guide says "On any day except Wednesday, you can shout any question down that well and you'll be told the answer" .

The man seems pretty impressed, and so he shouts down: Why not on Wednesday? and the voice from in the well shouts back: Because on Wednesday, itís your day in the well .

Well this is my Wednesday in The Well which will consist of Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

You may ask me any question about whatever you like. I will answer to the best of my abilities if I choose to answer your question.

The Well will be open for 24hrs.

OK, I'll get some basic questions out of the way.

How long have you been playing poker?

What stakes do you normally play (live and online)?

Who or what got you into poker?

Hi Joe,

* I don't follow too much of the baller stuff, so I apologize for not knowing your background: Can you give a short paragraph(~4 lines) on your poker history?

* Do you play 6-max? If so, what kind of variance can be expected over 200K hands?

Cheers,
Buzz

1. who authorized this "the well" and why did you agree to do it?

2. who is better looking, me or mrwookie?

3. what do you think is the hardest limit game on the internet at 10/20 and below? ie choose whichever site and limit you want.

4. should i learn no limit?

5. do you think i'll ever be rolled to play 50/100? dont say you dont know.

6. do you ever read anything here anymore that makes you think, 'holy crap, this is awesome. i now know more than i did before i read this." ? (not in bbv or oot please, strat only)

7. on that same note, what is the breakdown, roughly, for how you waste your time at 2+2?

8.do you wish you could remove yourself from all internet forums altogether?

9.what kind of music do you listen to while you play (if any)?

10. what limit/type of poker do you play for the most part?

11. who is the best player you know? you can differentiate between lhe and nlhe if you would like.

12. how much "tougher" is party 10/20 6-max right now than it was 2 years ago?

13. how happy were you when the red sox came back from 3-0 to beat the yankees?

What is the one best skillset that you need to develop in order to move up beyond micro?

what do you do to make reads on a full table, not having previously played with any players?

what do you coach besides LHE?

What do you need to see at the table to peg an unknown as a solid player?

what % of the time online do you play only 2 tables? 1? 3?

What limits do you think a player should invest in coaching if they are interested?

And if so, where do you recommend starting?

28~ years.

Normally play, 20/40, 30/60 online, and 40/80, 50/100 live. I've played up to 50/100 online and 100/200 live.

I played my first hand of poker when I was 5 or 6 with my grandparents, 5 card draw for bingo chips. A lot of that information can be found in this thread about how I became serious about poker: My Poker Story - unfinished

I play nearly all shorthanded online now a days. Unless it's Stud or Stud8, although I will play against the right opponents. HE and O8 I play mostly less than 6-max and sometimes HU. I even played 100/200 HU live at the Venetian which you can find some of that story in this thread:VS Mr. Gatorade

Depending on your style of play, you can expect 300BB swing fairly easily playing 6-max and less over a 200k sample.
