400FTP-TPTK in 3bet pot, go broke?
      #13193121 - 11/30/07 08:31 PM

villian this hand has been running 22/14/2 in this session (150 hands). He seems like a standard TAG who doesn't seem to make super thin value bets. We haven't tangled up to this point, and he probably views me as a TAG.

FWIW, his turn bet was almost instant.

What is villan's 3bet% ? In the heat of the moment, I would get my money in, but this seems like a chop at best vs described villan.

edit: didnt look at stacks

After looking at stacks, I'd still 4bet preflop a fair amount depending on if I've seen him 3bet in the same spots so far, and general game flow.

On flop, I would raise, given there are a bunch of draws/combo draws and you make it look like you may have one of them. I'd make it like $125 more here or so.

As played to turn, I'd defo. just get it in here. The pot's to big to fold now, with TPTK on this board in a 3bet pot a lil over 150 bbs deep, so just shove and feel good about it.

He hasn't three bet a lot. What range do you put him on when he leads turn?

since he 3 bet preflop with such a small PFR% we can come up with 3 possiblities
a) villian has AA/KK and has you beat
b) villan has AK as well and it's a chop
c) Villan has KQs and you beat him
d) villan has QQ or JJ and you beat him

since he has bet twice I'm going to say he doesn't have QQ or JJ. Best case scenarion, he 3 bet with KQ... unlikely

AK AA and KK are the real possiblities here.

I say calling/shoving is -ev, fold.

If you had a stat on his 3bet pf% that would really help...

77+ (with this board, he could defo. play every single one just like this), AK, KQ, KJs, QJs, 109s, 98s, 87s

Plus our hand is underrepped.

they key here is: do you think he would 3bet preflop with KQ?

yes: shoving is appropriate

no: fold

His turn bet narrows his range greatly if your reads are right. A-A, K-K, A-K, 10-10, or a made hand he is turning into a bluff. If he decided to get tricky preflop and has a draw, it seems like a good spot to check behind. Hands that are certainly in your range is 10-10 and 9-9 and he doesn't give a [censored]. This doesn't seem like a thin value bet here. It feels like he is taking you to value town or trying to push you off your hand.... I lean towards value town.
