About a week or so ago I decided to email full tilt to see if they're interested in sponsoring me for the Aussie Millions this year (lol selloutaments). This is the email I sent them:
"I'm not sure this is the right email address for this, so if there's a better person to send this to please forward it to them.
Hi, I'm Jimmy Fricke, and I took 2nd in the Aussie Millions tournament last year and received a large amount of television coverage. I'm coming back for all the tournaments this year, and was curious if Full Tilt would be interested in sponsoring me in some of the events or maybe the main event in exchange for wearing full tilt gear and maybe some other things. I'm unaffiliated with all sites right now and I have a bunch of friends coming to the tournament who are strong online tournament players who also have no affiliation. Let me know if you're interested in doing business.
Take care, Jimmy."
I got a response a little bit later saying that they don't respond to every message about solicitations, blah blah blah, but they'll contact me if they're interested. This message just popped up in my inbox:
"Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of Full Tilt Poker. Unfortunately FTP does not take open solicitations from players wishing to join the team. It is an invite only process that does not have set standards or qualifications. In the future, if we are interested in adding you as a FTP representative we will contact you directly. We wish you the best of luck and we hope to see you at a final table soon.

I'm like okay, whatever, I had to expect it. I peruse the rest of the email and discover that this genius had included an email that Howard Lederer sent to him regarding his final decision. This is that email:
"From: Howard Lederer Sent: Sat 11/3/2007 7:21 PM To: Robert H. Wolf; Ray Bitar Cc: Jason Newitt Subject: RE: Aussie Millions. (KMM4237266I19928L0KM)
The guy's a freak and a very weird dude. He is also quite young. I think we should stay away.

It surprises me very little that Full Tilt has incompetent employees who could make this happen. Thanks Full Tilt, I won't be conducting business with you in the future even if you want me to.
My email to Howard (at his new email no less) contained the above email plus:
"You should probably tell your employees not to send out correspondence with you when they're rejecting an offer from someone. Seems like it'd be bad for business. Professionalism first, eh? Look forward to playing in your tournament."
So, to sum up.
Beat: Am a freak and a very weird dude. Brag: Howard Lederer's email. Variance: Pls to be signing me stars?
Esp considering that most airtime of you seemed to be against Andy Black and to some extent gus hansen who most people would seem incredibly normal against.

He IS very young, he HAS made some fairly negative statements about other pros, and it's *probably* true that his type of image is not the image FTP wants to promote. So he was just making a fairly reasonable business decision, even though the way he made it was impersonal and insulting.
But the point is, he wasn't saying it to Jimmy and wasn't trying to harm Jimmy. I blame the FT emailer for outing Howard and showing Jimmy an email Jimmy had no business seeing. Believe me, I've said tons of things about people behind their backs that I only said because I knew it wouldn't get back to them. We all have. Doesn't mean we're all scumbags.

Howard's mention of the age would probably be controlling even without the "freak" comment. It would look pretty terrible for FTP to sponsor an under-21 American to play in a tournament when many of the leaders of FTP (Lederer, Ferguson, etc) are lobbying with the PPA re: online poker, especially if they say that they could keep online poker 21 & over.

Gobbo and I are RL friends, he lives 10 minutes away and we hang out a lot.
My reaction to this is that I can't believe Jimmy had the guts to not only ask them, but to post this response here. I'm glad the majority of everyone in this thread supported him. I also can't wait for the day Jimmy gets to rub Howard's face in this.
