This is so me.
Hitting from grass on the range i hit my solid contact, and the long drawed shot like 9 out of 10.
Then i go to the course and tee out. Not only do my good contact dissapear, but then i cut the ball, and im like wtf, im a drawer, how can i suddenly cut it, without feeling what i do different.
Dunno i use range for confident, cause i have 2 different swings for range and course. The reason beats me.

For a long time I was unable to take my driving range swing to the course. Finally I realized that I was thinking about way too much on the course (keep right elbow in, pull the butt down, etc...) and it was tensing me up. Once I learned to trust the swing I have and not think about anything mechanical on the course, the problem vanished.
For awhile I was ready to quit because I thought I'd never be able to play a decent round on a course. It's definitely possible to pull out of this.

I don't think there's a public driving range within 40 miles of me with grass

In Cleveland there were so many grass driving ranges but I can't seem to find one in Seattle.

Same, I live in the suburbs in seattle and the only grass range I have -- well it's in such terrible shape that I'm better off hitting on the mats!

Are you talking about gold creek in Woodinville? I heard they have a grass range and have been meaning to check it out. But if that is the one that is terrible i'll be .

Pushing the ball back an inch or two might help when you're on the course.

Boris,
Most people are not results oriented on a driving range. Basically they never really aim at a target like they do on the course. They aim in a general direction and hopefully start the ball out in that direction, make good contact and move on to the next ball. Also hitting ball after ball usually with the same club on the range you get in a grove that you can't get in on the course. Distance is almost never a factor at the range and probably shouldn't be with the crappy balls you get to hit but if you thin one or fat one towarrds your target its no big deal on the range but could be on the course.
If you practiced on the range the same way you played you would probably only be a little better there than you are on the course. Always pick an exact target watch the ball down and see how far off line you are. Never hit the same club more than once without hitting another. Take a little time between shots don't just go out and smack balls one after another you can't do this on the course. Switch your targets arounds don't just hit to the same target time after time this doesn't happen on the course. Do all these things and your range game will soon be just as bad as your real game.
After years of beating balls on the range and not getting any better this is what I came up with. Also I built and moved into a house on the 4th tee box of my golf club this year pretty much played golf 2x as much as I ever have and my handicap went up 5 shots. This game will drive you [censored] crazy.
