I've been playing blackjack lately at a casino in Oklahoma on an indian reservation. They have this weird policy of charging a 50 cent ante every hand you play. Thinking about it after getting home one day, I realized I had won 200 dollars but paid almost 500 in antes. Should I give BJ up at this place? Bigger bets than 10 dollars?

I'm beginning to think that it is highly unlikely to even break even when paying these antes.

paying 50 cents on a $10 bet, is kinda like giving up 5% house edge.
Obviously, the more you bet, the less the ante matters (ie. if you're betting $100, the 50 cents is only .5%).
Compare this number with the fact that blackjack usually has ~.5-1% house edge if played perfectly.
So if you're betting only 10$, you might be better off playing slots /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Write your state reps. and senators; ask them to introduce bills for house-banked Indian gaming ala California.

Ummm... you mean Vegas, right? Cali has corporation-banked games that feature the same house fee/ante garbage as Oklahoma apparently has.

The indian casinos in california are house banked just like vegas. The non indian games (Hustler, Bicycle, Commerce) are "corporation" banked.

This changed a few years ago. Indian casinos in Cali can house bank.
