I ran across this example in a information article quite a while back, but it seems to have application for other topics.

You're on a tall building, you have 3 coins, you toss one up and over the edge, you drop one over the edge, and you throw one downwards over the edge. Done right, they arrive at the sidewalk in with identical terminal velocity and direction, etc.

Complete knowledge of the outcome does not allow us to solve for the starting conditions.

This seems to have some similarity to the mind-body considerations in the philosophy of mind. There seems to be no reason to think that any given state of mind implies a specific underlying body configuration or even same processes.

Many on here seem recently involved in philosophy studies. Has direct correlation disappeared from the current philosophical positions?
