otherwise titled "how to lose your money in Europe"
Staying at the Radisson SAS in Copenhagen, which houses Casino Copenhagen. Great! I'll play a little Poker on my biz trip.
Here's the scoop on the "poker room" there:
2 tables, usually have a Dealer's choice (omaha Hi and Hold'Em (which they just call "Texas")), and 1 table of "Texas." They had both going on Monday but only 1 going (DC) on tuesday. rake is 5% up to 1BigBet which isn't good, but the worst is that they rake even if there isn't a flop. Hell, if its folded to the BB they take 5%. icky! dealers were fine, floor was fine --- friendly guy that talked to me for 20 minutes while I watched the game. Certainly not worth going out of your way. Lots of smoking (not a surprise, but wanted to mention that I had smokers to my left and right and while I'm sure they weren't blowing the smoke at me, I'm also sure they weren't making any effort to not get it in my face, which is fine except I'm spoiled being from cali).
How did I do... ugh! I brought a little more than I wanted to lose, but not so much that it would kill me if I lost it, plan is "hope to run good and have some fun."
mistake a: They're playing Dealer's Choice : Omaha/Hold'Em and I'm not much of an Omaha player... oh well.
mistake b: they're playing 200/400DKK (6DK/$1 = 35/70)... WAY over my normal limit (8/16 is as high as I've played)... oh well
mistake c: I've only got 4500DKK buy-in... very short, but no one at the table is all that deep so... oh well.
mistake d: after watching the game its not exactly juicy... oh well
so I sit with my entire wad and I'm in. 6 handed to start and we're playing omaha. fold for 2 orbits. 3rd orbit of omaha folded to me in CO with JJ87 2 suits. I raise. both blinds call. Flop is TJQ. bet/i raise/call/call(all-in) turn is a T. check/bet/call, river is a blank, check/bet fold so I win 800DKK side pot. all-in player turns over TT. Oh well.
later I've got 99AK, A is suited so I limp. Flop is J9T with one of my nut suits. I bet and get called in 2 places. Turn is a T. I check raise, 1 fold, 1 call. River is a blank. I bet, get raised and call and get shown JJxx.. middle boat no good.
few hands later I flop the nut straight with AQJT 2 suited ... I end with the nuts and I win a 2000DKK pot when there's only 1 caller.
move to hold 'em and with about 1700DKK I've got AKs in MP with a LAAAAG to my left (has raised 3 of last 4 hands and 6 of 8 that he's been in). I raise, he 3 bets, BB calls, I cap both come along. Flop is 8-high and 2 hearts, I've got clubs, I bet, call/call. I've got 100DKK left and bet it on a river heart, LAG calls, BB c/r, LAG folds, BB shows me K9h.

2 hours is all it took for the locals to wipe out the American Fish... fun times!
