i'm thinking about signing up for either the 50% up to $300 (7x) first time deposit bonus via pokerlistings.com or 30% up to $200 (7x) via bonuswhores.com

to those who cleared this bonus playing $1/$2, how many hands did it take you to clear it? and at what playthrough - 7x, 10x, etc.?

i'm guessing around 5000 total hands at 7x?

thanks a lot!

EDIT: oops, nevermind. i just found this via search:

Don't play $1/2 on Pokerroom, as the rake hits $1 at a $10 pot.

10% is so much that even a good player will have trouble beating it over time.

The rake isnt $1 on a $10 pot.

It hits $1 at $15.

At 1/2, you can count on accumulating 40 points roughly per 100 hands you play.

so it IS around 5000 hands... is this bonus worth it at 1/2?

free money is always worth it. as for the high rake on pokerroom network, as long as you're playing under a bonus at all times, it's not that bad. a 7x bonus on that site is 70% rakeback at all limits, so figure that when they take $1 for a $10 pot, it's actually only costing you the equivalent of them taking 30c out instead of $1.

I am currently working off that exact $300 bonus at the $1/2 fixed limit tables at Poker Room. It takes 2100 points to work off the bonus and the points are awarded at a graduated system. A $1 rake equals 1 point and you do get partial points for rakes under a dollar. Like .40 rake equals .4 points. The 1/2 game's rake is capped at $1 so the most points you can get is 1 per hand. I have found that I receive approx 22-25 points per hour per table. I do not multi table, but you can multi table there.

Be prepared for a rock garden at the 1/2 game at poker room. It is much more difficult than the usual 1/2 games you see. I believe it is a bunch of bonus chasers. The percent seeing the flop at the 1/2 limit tables is generally between 27% - 30% (full ring table). The games are looser at the short handed tables but I do not play those.

The .25/.50 fixed limit table at poker room is a very easy game. The percent seeing the flop in those games are over 50% for a full ring game. The game is also very passive. But you will only get 5-7 points per hour at those tables.

So, at the $1/2 fixed limit game at Poker Room, expect to receive 22-25 points per hour for every table. You will need 2100 pointd to clear the bonus.

By the way I only have 428 more points to go before I get the bonus /images/graemlins/grin.gif .

I hope that helps.

Actually 7x is the same as 100% rakeback at full ring (7 pts noncontributed clears 1 bonus dollar and for each $1 that is raked gets you .7 points. Since you are only getting 1/10 of the pots your .7*10=7 pts/$1 you pay in rake, hence 100% rakeback. If there are less then 10 people at the table do

# of players * .7 / 7 and that is the percent of rake you get back. (50% with 5 people, ect.)

So in a way the increased rake helps you clear your bonus. Enjoy.

I am clearing about .4 points per hand at 1\2 full ring. Granted I have only played about 500 hands, but it seems to be clearing pretty quickly.

Most tables have average pots of between 10 and 13 bucks. Its not to rocky.

Make sure you've checked the "Enable Statistics" option in the "Statistics" pull-down menu. The software won't start writing hands to your hard drive until you do; and without the hands being written, PT has no info to work with.
