I avoid absolute poker bonuses like the plague

The full ring games there are so bad that I haven't played there in a long time. On the other hand, the bonuses are really generous and not too tough to clear. Is it worth it to play at AP? It seems like the games are awful during any bonus offer period. Are the shorthanded games a lot better?

Play 2/4 short hand. The players there are horrible! They have a VP$P of over 80!

(Don't take me seriously, I just want more 2/4 players on there. As of right now there's only 4 2/4 games going on where as there is 10 1/2)

There is always an Absolute bonus period!... no one should play there without a bonus. However, bonus+rb is worth alot of dollars in total. You should compare your win rate there to other sites, and see if the B+RB makes up the difference or not for you.

I used to play 6max limit there, and the games are beatable. But still a bit tougher than normal.

The games are tough, but at 1/2 and 2/4 short bonii and RB work out to be around 3BB/100. The full ring games are terrible and haven't played them in a long, long time.

Also the rake is brutal about 2 times higher than stars/Paradise at 2/4 while it is about the same at 1/2.

I would play this site if I could find a mod for it. It honestly hurts my eyes so bad that it keeps me from what is an obvious +EV opportunity (RB +bonus).

I agree with Layzie. I actually did pretty well there playing the NL tables, but the layout is just awful. I can't even look at the site, and there are other things that bother me so much on the site (typing in bets, the sounds, etc.) However the RB and bonuses flowing in make for a lot of extra money.

Stay away. Every table is a 22/15 TAGfest. No fish whatsoever. The bonus is like .0000001BB/100 anyway with the new clearing requirements.

I played Nl there for about 2 months, clearing a $300 bonus. I played 50nl there and found that the game was definitely beatable. the players there are obviously much different than say, party players. Absolute players are fairly loose/passive.

The software sucks, but with the bonus/rakebacks, I think that the site is so so.

AP is like my main site (RB + bonuses almost every week). i just had someone edit the classic table skin to remove all those small tables between seats and now it looks fine (for me)!

I don't know the exact details, but it made it a lot harder to clear a bonus at 1/2 and maybe 2/4. But at 3/6 and above you shouldn't really see much difference.

rake has to reach 50 cents as opposed to the old 25 cent rake (for it to count as a raked hand towards the bonus)

I play 1/2 SH at Absolute and love it. I've tried to take shots at 2/4 and am running at -6BB/100 over several thousand. Which hurts. Bad.

I'm not sure how fast the bonus used to clear, but its about $4 per 100 hands now. I guess it used to be around $7/100 at 1/2?

I was referencing the change from .25 to .50 rake, there havent been any changes recently.

They have skins you can download now from the site, most are just as bad (if not worse) than the default, but you might be able to find one you like. FWIW, though I don't think the site is worth very much if you play higher than 1/2 or 2/4.

I'm well aware of the backgrounds. I said "mod", though. There is alot more than the background that needs to be changed to make that site playable. Good job coming off as a giant douchebag, though.

If you play tight ABC poker you should do OK at the 1/2 limit tables. There's usually one 20something VP$IP with a PFR of about 10 but you will also usually find one or two 50+ VP$IP aggressive players. I usually just check the BB and fold everything else until I get a really strong hand and let the maniacs hang themselves. It's quite fun...

Use the search function...also you could use google, or yahoo, or excite, or ask...hmm see a trend?

There has been numerous AP table mod threads, you can even modify it from the software now I believe.....although their interface should be the least of their concerns.

yea this bonus SUCKS to clear !!! you have to play like 10000 hands at .5/1 and 1/2 to clear it and the tables blow ..

i am just going to play 2/4 with my 100 i got left on this site and lose it or get hot and cashout /images/graemlins/smile.gif
