I am using number of outs x 2 on each street to get a rough idea of percentages.

How do I convert these percentages to odds easily?

Your odds against are

(# of unseen cards) : (# of outs * number of streets you're counting)

Since thats usually going to get you a useless number like 47:9, you have to simplify it if youre looking to compare it to pot odds easily (47:9 is basically just better than 5:1, for example).

Take 100% minus the percent you've come up with, and then divide by the percent you've come up with.

Example. You've got a 25 percent chance to make your hand.

(100% minus 25%)/25% = 75/25, or 3-1

I've been doing the same thing and just want to double check that my math/odds are correct and I am not making any fatal errors.

Lets say I have 9 outs on the flop to improve to what I believe will be the best hand by the river. The likelihood of this to happen is as follows: (9/47)+(9/46). This gives me the percent that I will make my hand by the river. And Then with that perecent (the percent of the above equation is .387) I subract it from 100 percent and then take the difference I found and divide it by my original percent I found to get odds? (E.G. 1-.387=.613 .613/.387=1.58-1 odds)

That the right math?

Percent = per hundred

So 40% = 40 out of 100

So for every 40 of you there's 60 of them

Reduced: for every 2 of you there's 3 of them

So if your percentage (pot equity) is 40% you're a 3:2 nderdog.

If the odds you're getting are > 3:2, you're an overlay.

Now flip the fraction: 100/40 and divide

Dawn, you're incorrect. You can't simply add P(improve on turn) to P(improve on river) to find P(improve on turn or river), if you do, you're double counting times your improve on both. Further, if you're considering a call on the flop, you need to consider that you may have to put money in on the turn also, so even when you correctly calculate the probability of improving by the river, that's not usually the relevant number.
