I moved to Thailand (Koh Samui) last mouth and have now finally settle down in a house here. Manage to get a 0.5Mbit internet connection which is more like a 33k modem during the days but works okay in the night time. However I start to play poker and everything went okay until yesterday then a got my Eurobet account locked. Don't know the reason for it yet but a guess they saw that I playing from a Thai IP Number (Online Gambling is illegal here). Could have something to do with the fusion with Pokerroom but I doubt it.

1. What is the best way to deal with Eurobet? Can the close down the account with funds just for playing from Asia?

2. Does any one know what site that care less about Asians IP?

3. Heard rumors that you can use programs like Pc Anywhere to access www.anythingwithgambling.com. (http://www.anythingwithgambling.com.) Does anyone know how to set it up?

Feel free to PM with anything regarding Thailand; I will try to make a "Online Gambling in Thailand FAQ" if there is any interest in it.

Thanks for your comments.

If you go to a different country,(different from ur registered address) even if it's not somewhere in asia, ull get ur account frozen. This has happened to me as well. Just give the poker site a call and they'll fix it for you. It's some sort of security procedure.

Hi,
I've been in Thailand (Bangkok) the past four months playing on partypoker. They will not let me deposit or cash out, but have no complaints when I have someone in the States log onto my account and do it for me. I also had my neteller account closed, because neteller does not "do business in Thailand," despite my being a US citizen, with a US address and US bank account. Problems such as these are because many companies consider Thailand part of the third world, and so do not want (or are legally obligated not to) to do business with them (still not sure why?) You would not have any problems if you were playing from Hong Kong or Singapore.
In terms of Eurobet it might be as simple as calling them and confirming to them that you are in Thailand or they might close your account and cash out your money...

Hope this helps.

"I also had my neteller account closed, because neteller does not "do business in Thailand,"

Is this what they said?
I have been using Neteller in Thailand many times. It was no problem. Did they just temporary close the account for investigation, or was it permanent? What happened to your funds?

i dont know if you play for fun, or if you multitable or not, but i think the disconnection factor is pretty big.

They did not say anything for the first month or so, but after froze my account. When I called them, they said that they could not reopen my account as long as I was in Thailand, because they do not do business in Thailand (nor Malaysia, but HK and Singapore are ok) so they transfered all my funds back into my bank account, and I can have them reopen when I go to a country where they do business. I'm not sure why they didn't freeze my account the first time I logged onto my account from a Thai IP, but I must have logged on 20 times before it raised a flag.

”I must have logged on 20 times before it raised a flag.”

Good to know! I wonder if using the ATM card in countries “they do not do business” also raises red flags?

Anyway, I guess the best way to avoid all this kinds of problems is to use a remote controlled computer stationed in a “legit” country. Then you will easy bypass all censorship or problems with “bad” IP:s

I will travel next year and I will try using this kind of setup. Anyone at this forum using remote controlled computers? I would like to know what program might be the best and if it really works okey with slow or unreliable connections.

Well, it looks like you're going to run into lots of problems with this. First, as you probably know, gambling is illegal in Thailand. Thailand has had some history with forcing ISP's to block access to certain sites (porn mostly).

Your best bet is to hide yourself both from the poker rooms and from the ISP. You can do that by ordering a virtual machine or a dedicated server located in a datacenter in the US. That should run less than $80 a month even for a dedicated server.

Next you want to set up SSH IP forwarding on both your PC and the server. The SSH will encrypt everything going between you and your server. So to the Thai ISP's it looks like you're connecting to some random server in the US using encryption. SSH is so commonly used (many hosting facilities even require it by turning off telnet and ftp) that it shouldn't set off any alarms.

Now you just install your card room apps on the server and make sure that if you use the Neteller website you do it via SSH port forwarding so it looks like the traffic is originating from your US based server.

Does anyone have first hand experience with playing poker through a setup like this?

I´m a bit worried about lag, and timing out. The connection in Asia is not topnotch in the first place.

Or will it run almost as smooth as back home?
